MvGing? Interesting move.  Tactical defensive sub?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

That's just terrible defending...

Shut the fudgeing player down. Again letting O'Shea run and we're backing off. C'mon Phoenix get stuck in!

I thought we had a McGing but decided not, early in game when I heard the Brisbane one mentioned.

Finally. Game management needs to be tweaked a bit more but a deffo improvement from the squad. The off week helped.

That was pretty fun; has been a while!

Lots of the guys who I thought have been underwhelming this season had really good games. The returning All Whites in particular did well, and Taylor and Davila.

Yes Taylor and Libby were really good tonight and Rufer had his best game of the season too. Excellent team performance.

Fudge yes. That was a great performance (minus that wee spell when brissy scored). Bossed it and played some sublime stuff at times. We really didn't deserve to concede and should have had another. Did think ball was off, but the reply seemed to indicate another cb playing them on. Would have to see it again. Good atmosphere in the cake tin for most of the second half. Had a newbie with me, think hell be coming to a few more games now! Happy Saturday nixers!

Also, captains performance from long pins tonight. And great to see the rufer of old. Great stuff.

Cacace will be moving onto bigger and better soon.

Well impressed with Payne and Cacace.

Rufer had a much better second half.

Very frustrated with the Phoenix's negativity on a few occasions - at least two free kicks we had 30 m out ended up with a hoof from our keeper. When we were positive we generally did quite well.

Oh well, it was decent entertainment, and our first win, so lets celebrate that.

Yes I agree. Gotta enjoy him while we have him. Great to see Singh called up into Bayern's first team.

Good day for NZ football fans!

As much as I don't want to lose him, 2 kiwi players at Bayern Munich would be pretty cool...

Strange stat: at the time of writing (half way through round 7) 6 teams out of 11 only have 1 win!

No he's right, Sotirio would be far too good for a central league team. Great pace, good awareness/reads the game well, can run up and down the sideline all night and at a central league level his god awful first touch wouldn't be so much of an issue.

Clearly not as bad as people think he is, but its probably true we'd be a better team with perhaps McCowatt on the right and Piscopo on the left (I don't think Devlin fits into the wide role). Or maybe Hooper/Ball as the front two with Davila on the right, the Mexican looks pretty good in both positions. Sotirio would be a more than useful game-changer coming off the bench.

Rufer was immense, particularly in the second half. Tempered somewhat by Steinmann playing worse than usual, too many loose passes and lacking a bit of awareness. Though they are clearly not trying to play in the same style as some have suggested with Rufer playing box-to-box and Steinmann holding, it's probably only a matter of time before they really both click together.

I think the word 'congested' was repeated more than 100 times by the commentators which sums up most of the play.

Happy with the win; don't think we played better than most other games, but Brisbane were kak and things fell our way. We were the better side, though, quite clearly.

Davila has easily been our player of the season so far; far and away our most valuable, and the only one who looks like scoring. There are so many times when he's waiting for the ball in the middle of the park and Rufer takes the safe option and either passes backwards or sideways. Would like us to be more incisisve there - a lot of nervousness on the ball, and Rufer doesn't seem to trust his passing anymore.

I think the nearly clean sheet and Payne's solidity was in small part due to Sotirio getting back and covering and pressing. He didn't when they scored and Payne gets dragged inside. He's got a huge engine and I'm not super worried.

Man, Ball needs to get off the mark though. It's annoying the heck outa him.

Steven Taylor, what a captain's game. See boys, this is how you score. See boys, this is how you defend. Play like me and we'll win.

yes but other than that he’s playing well and he gives 100%

Great team effort and Taylor was immense. Rubbed off on everyone.

Our work rate was amazing eg Sotirio.

Was Rufer's best game for a while.

Davila is our best player right now.

Lots to come from McCowatt as he develops.

Pity Cacace won't be here next season.

Now off to Adelaide with nothing to lose

Not an away game that anyone banks on the 3 points

I think Sotirio provides pace in the team..along with Cacace   If he wasn't in it would make opponents defence easier.  Yes he trips over himself on occasions but just needs 1 to go in and he could score as many as Ball might.
