jury is still out on Gully IMO. He has been done-over down his wing a load of times

Pluses:

Albert and Rod controlling from the defensive midfield.

Manny continuing to do better than expected (for me) at CB.

Evergreen dedicated Dura.

----

Minuses:

FBs offering no real threat.

Front four still struggling to find any combination and wall breaking ability.

---

Yet we are still doing reasonably well.

---

I think I'd like to see Rod get further forward and create some combination play with Roly.  Maybe some consistent time starting sees that develop more.

---

Alternatively tell the FBs to really chance their arm and get forward, but I don't see any of them really showing enough skill/pace to bother.

I'm wondering what the story is with Danaskos.  He looked to have some decent pace, and some good ball skill and game sense in the game against Auckland in the preseason.  On the one look he seemed to have a lot more to offer than either Gully or Doyle (or Fenton on current form) going forward.  Plus offers some height.  Would be interested to hear how he's looking at training.

Hasn't Danoskos been playing with the weenix?

Yep. Saw him at Newtown Pk v ACFC. Not a standout imo.

A-Rod and Riera the only positives from that game for me.

So the first cleansheet in 9 games was not a positve? Jeez, harsh audience this...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Thanks for the feedback on Danaskos.

Dissapointed to hear he's not really followed up on what seemed a good game preseason.

The clean sheet was more a happy accident than anything. Sydney had the bulk of the chances - Brosque hit the post. Moss made a few good saves though and I thought Manny and Dura were generally pretty decent. Doyle and Gulley both got skinned a lot.

I doubt Ernie will be jumping for joy at the clean sheet. We don't set up to keep clean sheets, really - we set up to attack, score goals and try and win games. Ernie has said he doesn't want draws.

I feel that both FB's got forward plenty of times versus Sydney, they were just haplessly ineffective when they did so. If only we had Fenton from last season, he seemed to be the answer before the run of injuries... Sydney have a real prospect in Gersbach.

And not for the lack of trying on part of the Smurfs. If anything, Janjetovic was the one who could be excused if he had a quick nap on the sidelines. Mossy pulled out a couple of good saves even if their shooting was mostly off target.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Don't think we had a shot on target all game? I guess A-Rod's off the post actually; but none that forced a real save.

It didnt really feel like we were under much pressure though, the clean sheet was deserved

I remember 3 pretty clear chances for Sydney - Brosque's one being the biggie.

Actually I thought A Rod was pretty good last night, yep he did give it away a coupe of times, but nowhere near as many as our outside backs. Riera did too but he was excellent

I agree - one of his better games as was more direct instead of simply laying it off. You will always miss a few passes when playing more direct. He was one of the better players as we really lacked urgency v Wanderers.

Doyle was woeful. Was 30 seconds late for every tackle, first touch etc. I would rather see McGarry play there than him...

They kicked us ALL day. In the end we subbed off our best player basically to protect him from the constant fouling.

And now Arnold is the one coming out complaining? Beyond ridiculous.

Arnold deflecting from his and his team performance. It is joke. When was the last time they had a game when you thought: Wow! Their are on par with Jets attractiveness.

I felt that Brosque was good for the last pen so I do feel for him one time.

The rest is simply laughable

Am I the only person who is usually very worried when McGlinchey gets on the ball?
I think he's overrated and pulls some great things from his arse every fortnight/four weeks.

Seems like I'm in the minority. Roly had a pretty bad one for his standards and the Chris Beath should get with the times and PLAY ADVANTAGE EVERY NOW AND THEN.

No your not.  I've said previously to drop him, play Roly in his position and start another forward.
