Radio Sport Disappointing??

I might be wrong here but i listened to Radio Sport at 2pm yesterday thinking they might be covering the Press Conference but nothing, and i listened till about 2:20'ish and still nothing.

All i heard was Matt Gunn talking about the obstruction rule in league

Can't help feeling they should have had someone there, surely they could've crossed live as some stage.

As i say i might have been wrong as i didn't listen for the full hour

I listened too and he mentioned there was a press conference going on, I think it might have been mentione don the news that the conference was on too. He read out the signings at around 2:20 or so and said he was reading off the A League site or something like that.

Perhaps could have been handled better - I'm sure a lot of us were listening to Radio Sport for the announcement when we could have got our answers earlier from other radio/news services probably.

They didn't metion anything until I sent them an email with the signings, which they broadcast as a "news flash". Then that was it.

should've just tuned to yellowfever.co.nz lads!

we had two representatives at the press conference updating the website as the signings were announced.

maybe we should start our own radio station as well...

I'd like to add to that list:
Murray Deaker makes rediculous statements based on little or not fact too often for my liking
Willie Lose lacks basic logic skills

That's right, he said he was reading of an email - my mistake.

I barely listen anymore.

If it isn't about rugby then you needn't bother with Radio Sport.

The only good presenter is Miles Davies, and hes hardly ever on!

I hear Devlin has quit Radio Live, and Veitch is an idiot, so hopefully he'll be able to slot back into his rightful slot back on the breakky show at Radio Sport. I haven't listened since Devlin left, now if we could only get Graeme Hill back too.

Radio Sport has become Radio Rugby (Veitch), Radio Golf (Telfer), Radio Motor Sport (Darcy), although i can't quite get into Willie Lose i think he covers the wider range of sports and generally asks reasonable questions.

BTW - I was logged in at the time and was constantly refreshing this site to see the signings.

When I jumped in the car this morning I switched it on and Telfer was going on about Herbert putting himself in a bad position by coaching both the phoenix and the all whites, he then went on to say that about 6 games will clash this up coming season, I know herbert has said it won't be a problem but it makes you think especally when about 6 or 7 or so players will be taken out to play for the national team.

There are some pretty sizeable risks around conflict of interest as well.

Things like recruiting 'sign for the Phoenix or you won't get caps' and selection 'I'm not risking you because it will impact on your availability for the other side' or 'you're not the best player in that spot, but I need you fit for the other side so you start'.

Perhaps yellowfever could try building a relationship with someone at radio sport? They do good live coverage of football. But their after match coverage is below average . I heard little or nothing about the o league final on monday. All that said football has much better coverage than it had before radio sport.

it should be renamed radio moan  cause thats all you get old rugby heads still moaning about the team selection for a test played three years ago

brendan telfar talks nothing but netball , golf  & rugby wrap on monday

murray deaker is  what john campbell will be like in 10 - 15 years time  please help us

and if it wasn't for andrew dewhurst and miles davis  we'd be below under water ice hockey in terms of news worthiness on radiosport

american sport is covered more than football on that station

what ever happened to Graeme Hill ??  he was alright

martin devlin was ace  apart from he's a red devil supporter   (sorry wrong thread )

Give radio sport a break hate to break it to you guys but they are a rugby station becasue rugby is the main sport of New zealand not too many people actually care about soccer.

Generally there coverage is alright they had a lot of the knights games on and a few nzfc games and the rest of it. If at the end of the year a Pheonix and a npc game are on at the same time they should televise the npc one.

For the most part they're a pick of d*ckhead Thugby nuts who love nothing better than to put the boot in to football - Kent Johns at night is ok the rest are a waste of space.
Had a mate who worked in the newsroom and she told me that they'd laugh about football and go on about how they couldn't wait for it to cock something up so they could take the piss.

Still don't know mate - Sumo and Ari haven't been at work this week so haven't seen them to ask.

The usual deal is I pre record a 20 min segment on The Rock and go over to the Kiwi studio, when I'm not rostered on-air they call me - I never got a call.

I dont like sticking up for them but the O League Final was played live on Radio Sport so at least thats something.
They dont have presenters that know anything about football so they wont discuss it because they dont like to be out of their depth. Its part of the problem with the whole New Zealand media. The sport they know about gets coverage and the most popular sports, Football and Motor racing get little coverage.

Graeme Hill is on Radio Live on the weekends. He is quality that man, listening to him speak with Bob Jones about boxing (and i'm not a real boxing fan at all) was riveting radio. I'm afraid Darcy tries but he is no Graeme Hill, not by a long shot...

Devlin, followed by Telfer, followed by Hill - what a line up that was!
