So people are climbing into O'Leary for his performance tonight but the stats show when he refs us we typically win.

So maybe the RoF effect > O'Leary's (perceived) bias to the oppo?

Here are the ref stats for home games...

and here are the away game ref stats...

I've highlighted Chris Beath to expose him as your quintessential 'homer'. We have never lost with him reffing us at home, but on the other hand never won with him away. Of course our impeccable home record, and abysmal away record are obvious factors here - but it's still an interesting stat.

Anyone got stats of how many games he has done in Oz? I assume he only gets the games here therefore does O'Leary coincide with our run at ROF or does our run coincide with him (allbeit very small part)

Anyone thinking he was poor should watch the Sydney game again

The offside for Greenie's 'goal' and last week at Melbourne with Nick Ward. That's basic ignorance of the law which cost us a goal here and could have cost us a goal in Melbourne.

If it comes back off an opposition player, it isn't offside! FFS.

Consistency is the key - if O'Leary handed cards out to those in Green the way he handed them out to us last night they'd have finished with 9 on the field.

He's only reffed a few of non-Nix games but he's been pretty good in all of them.  Surprised he doesn't get more gigs when you consider the quality of his rivals.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Yes it is. Read pages 100-108 of "The Laws of the Game" which you can download from the FIFA website.

actually, it wasn't offside by watching the replay, Greenacre was walking back to halfway not interfering when a ball to the edge of the 18 yard box from Daniel comes in and is headed to Greenacre by a Fury player.

NOT OFFSIDE.

How can you say he isn't interfering when he is a few yards from the ball?

I wouldn't call somebody in the penalty box, walking towards an onside position when his team are attacking "walking back to halfway". You are just repeating what the commentator said. Tut tut.

sorry, towards halfway. I'm merely stating the direction he is walking in so you can follow.

and yes, by walking in that direction when the ball is near the sideline, he is not interfering.

it doesn't where the ball comes from.  It's where the ball is going that is key.  And it was going within a few yards of greenie.

Greenacre standing by himself is interfering with play?

Firstly, he's not actively going for the ball, second he's not actively getting involved in the actions of any of the Fury players.

FFS. Can't believe that there's this many people on a football site who can't grasp a simple offside rule.

From an officiating point of view, Greenacre has gained advantage from being in an offside position. He is offside when Daniel plays the ball, and the touch from Talay is irrelevant because it had failed to establish effective possession for the defending team. From an officiating point of view, during an attacking move any touch (attempting to block a shot, or sliding to intercept a pass, or attempting to clear the ball in this case) by the defending team that does not result in effective possession of the defending team is seen as a deflection/rebound in terms of applying the offside law.

It is clear that Talay's touch did not establish possession for Fury (he had so little control over it tha ball went nowhere near where he'd intended it!), therefore Greenacre was rightly flagged for offside. Simple, clearly obvious from the YF zone watching it live, and so uncontroversial that I'm tempted to ban anyone who raises this issue again.

Why is this argument in two threads?

It wasn't a goal. We won. Be happy. Move on.
