Why do the stupid FFA ban replays at the stadium for debateable referee decisions. regardless, if the decision goes against the Nix, the ref is always going to get booed. But if the fans see the replays and see a player diving, then we'll boo the offender not the referee for making a complete f**k up.

Last nights goal was a classic example. We weren't shown the replay and were in confusion as to why it was not allowed. Bad luck for the referee that we had a new attendence record, 18,000 booing is worse than 10,000 as he found out!

It's not the FFA Big Fella, it's FIFA orders.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I agree LG, but I think the feeling is that it's better to have the crowd booing the referee than having a riot 'cos they can see he's f**ked up. The ref would be in more of a no-win situation if he's clearly seen to have made a cock-up.

I've always wondered what the story behind the lack of replays was. Is it just a way of protecting the integrity of an official's decision?

I can't believe Adelaide finished with ten men, more red cards were in order for the way they were hacking our guys down.

Thats stupid, its to protect the refs.

If you want to protect the refs then maybe they shouldnt make so many bad calls.

They're not so soft with replays at the Aussie Rules- there's nothing like the sound of 80,000 people holding their collective breathes watching a replay of a controversial call, only to go completely mental afterwards when it's shown in slow motion just how badly the umps f**ked up. Brilliant stuff, get on board FIFA, FFS!

But it doesn't really protect the refs, we now know that the ones they don't show are the ones they got wrong, therefore taking away any doubt!

Just get rid of all big screens in grounds (or is that groundia) I've done with out them for 25 football watching years.......

What happens when we score a goal then? We see it once and thats it?

E.G The Elrich goal vs. Mariners, that was great to watch over and over again on the screen.

Erm yes, like we used to in the days before the interwebsuperhighwaynet thingy.  Match of the day at 10.30 you get to see it again, kebab on the way home from the pub, in time to put your feet up, open a beer and da da da da dada dada da..........

Was at the Glory Vs Tards match the last weekend, and they seemed to show all the replays. Multiple times too.

If they had showed a replay of our disallowed goal tonight, no one would have booed. I've just seen it and yes, the goalie was obstructed. Good call from the Lino and Ref.

Agreed. Its really confusing when we dont know whats going on. If we see the incident then we might not give the referee more sh*t.

They don't show anything that could enrage the home crowd. So any sh*t referee decisions that don' go the home crowds way. Any fouls. Etc.

it's so that the crowd doesn't go 'f**king mental'.

and then throw bottles at the ref

This is a policy to prevent any crowd invasion to protect the referee and players involved.

Can't understand how Smeltz didn't get sent off last night with his attempted headbutt. And watching the highlights wasn't Felipe's goal offside ??

Yeah, what some people fail to understand is that in some parts of the world there are real fears for the safety of referees even at the best of times, let alone if thousands of angry fans know for certain that the ref had screwed them over.

FIFA are well within their rights to enforce the 'no controversial replays' rule.

They did show a replay of our disallowed goal at the stadium last night.

It was disallowed for offside. The linesman had his flag up almost immediately. We had a player standing in an offside position when the ball was headed towards goal. That player was in front of the keeper and therefore interfering with play. I don't think the keeper was impeded (let's not forget that obstruction is not mentioned in the laws of the game - merely that you have to be within playing distance of the ball if you're going to block access to the ball) and the ref acknowledged the linesman when he blew.

Felipe was onside - he was behind the ball when it was played.
On the replay this morning, it doesn't look like an attempted headbutt by Smeltz - but at the time I was worried.

Yeah, that was weird, I got a brief look and saw that Old had taken out the keeper after the ball was all ready in the net, but I needed another look to be sure, then they decided to show the "Some replays are restricted..." message, as though they realised a bit late that it was a bit marginal.

True dude, tho this one has a big screen, so they should get with the times and also have replays... nothing worse that turning your head for a second and missing an incident/goal/foul then looking up at the big screen for the replay and nothing... then sit and wonder "whats just happened!?" (for about 5 minutes)

I am use to it dude, i'm just voicing my opinion that its bullsh*t how they don't use the big screen for that purpose, i mean, why else would you have a big screen at a stadium?... its for replays isn't it?

Well... unless its there so we can watch the game on a big screen rather than watching the pitch where the game is being played...
