Richard Johnson- 6 months in jail

I just saw it on the sport news. Apparently Richard Johnson led the police on some drunken car chase and is facing 6 months in jail.

There goes our starting midfielder.

Tonight radio sport seemed to think they had some kind of exclusive story but it seems this is old news. They claim the PR man at the Phoenix said his contract will be ripped up if he goes to jail.

Unfortunately there is a big difference between the quality of these two players.

Webster will end up in jail soon enough, most probably for having a swing at someone. my money is on Ross if he joins WPFC.

...although it seems like he has joined us

Sounds like he's been a very naughty little Johnson!

Now we know why Ricky signed Plodder!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

So Ricki basically knew about this as it happened in March. As stated earlier, I guess as long as the Phoenix had a get out clause from the contract there shouldn't be any issues for phoenix or money lost.

Any of those 3 players not required by Adelaide worth looking at for the phoenix?

If we build it, they will come...

Admin, for future reference could you explain your reasons for blocking this thread for 55 hours? Maybe it is time for some forum rules?

Hi Sanday, my fault in the main.

Two reliable people on this forum caught the news items on Fox Sports about it, but the only online source we could find was the Newcastle forum.

We decided to wait until we had it 'in print' so to speak rather than condemn an innocent man.

Big thanks to Heggs and Danny for spotting it and helping us source some confirmation.

He couldn't even out run the copper. Let's not put him on the wing.

You guys are celebrating the man who is clearly your best midfielder (and one of the best in the HAL) being booted from your team?

It's hard for him to be of any benefit if he's locked in the big house

He'd been watching "Goodbye, Pork Pie", got a bit carried away and decided to try and emulate it.

Kind of reminds me of pre-season 1993...  Sunderland had just signed 4 new players and they decided to take a drive, ended up crashing the car and 3 of them missing the opening game of the season (which we lost 5-0).

Maybe 6 months in prison will harden him up so we'll have some mongral in midfield. I say keep him. He obviously isn't here for the money if he drives a car that the cops can catch.

Its no longer a problem.

If he can't out run 'the old bill' how's he gonna keep up with Robbie Fowler when he visits the Nix?

I don't care how good he was, anyone that thinks he can get drunk and lead the police on a car chase probably isn't a good role model for costa and jeremy b (he'll be signed soon, he's a legend).

What an idiotic think to do. He is a poor, poor role model. I say fine him and don't tear up his contract. But it would be good if he was sent to a Californian jail to be hardened up, we need a player a bit like Stig Tofting.

Who would use a sports star as a role model? The only person he is a role model for is his kids(if he has any).
Permalink Permalink

If he has kids and he is a role-model to them then we may as well put them in jail now before they do something as stupid as what he did.

Yes I understand he is good at leaving a clean pair of heels - and if he can get day paroles the prison guard escort will add to the crowd numbers.

He still cracks me up. Ol' Stiggy. Maybe the Phoenix should sign him! Who cares if he's expensive or a foreign player, he will give us all a good laugh regardless of how well (or not well) the Phoenix play.

Im guessing the way some of you have posted you are all angels and have never made a mistake in your life. Given there is no excuse for what he did, its a shame some of you just dont ease up.

Some of the shyte more high profile players get away with yet you ridicule this crap.

You're an idiot. Of course we didn't want something like this to happen. He was one of the best players signed thus far.  But honestly, I don't want someone that f**king stupid in the team anyway.
