Do Marquee players count as foreign players?

I am lead to believe so.

Unless of course they are Australians (or new Zealanders).

What a crock! Don't believe anything you hear on the grapevine unless his name is Lunatic.

did you just make that up?

Heard it from someone close to the Phoenix Org.

Apparntly he wants to look elsewhere, and seeing as he would only play like 6-7 games for us i dont think A-League would mind so.

Still a big stretch.

7 games ?  So a  guest player, not Marquee.  That does make a difference to foreign player quotas and things.

Do you speak Scouser? If you wore a brightly coloured shell suit it would remind him of home.
Or maybe a wig and the yellow Liverpool kit!

Just saw you on the treadmill GingE. You seemed to be checking out the chicks rather than running.
I'd rather have Smeltz than Fowler

4 Brasilians on the books, deals completed and three of the players are now in the country for sure - so unless one of them walks out or is sacked, there's no way on Earth that Robbie can sign for Nix.

More likely to end up at Cardiff or West Brom now they are both cashed up.

"I'd rather have Smeltz than Fowler"

Would you have said that before the Wales game? I think not. Judging people based on one appearance is not a great way to go about it.

Hmmm, I wonder who's better, someone who has scored a fair few goals for England and Liverpool, and along with the fastest hattrick in the Premiership in about 4.5 minutes against Arsenal, or someone who fluked two against Wales- not exactly the best team in the world I might add.

Sure, I'm being a bit harsh on Smeltz,  I'm sure he's a decent player and will keep improving. But saying someone who was struggling for a contract in the lower leagues of England is better than Fowler, someone who's only just retired from Premiership football, is just ridiculous.

We'll see at the end of the season though I suppose. I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time! (I mean, look at all the upsets in the Asian Cup- I never would have expected that!)

I see Fowler is also considering an offer from Port Vale - excellent choice.

And then Maybe him and Robbie Williams can sing Port Vale to victory coz you sure can't trust Port Vale's  football to win them anything.

There are people suggesting on the One Vale Fan forum that Fowler isn't good enough for Vale. We must have made quite a few signings for that to be the case, but unfortunately I suspect it isn't the case.

whats the latest on Fowler? They mentioned that he would be joining sydney up in Queensland for their pre-season cup game last week, so I'm guessing he was watching. Hopefully he stays another week and comes over to NZ. even if he's just watching again. the buzz he'd create would be HUGE!

Watching the Fox Sports they mentioned that Fowler was looking at houses on the North Side of Sydney...A league most deffinetly doesn't ave the money to match other leagues but Australia is a good place to live and raise kids in, so maybe he is thinking about that and his money would last longer due to the currency..and also I doubt he would want to come down to wellngton...To cold.

He doesn't need the money, he's invested well and is set for life. He's only still playing for the love of the game.

I assume that, supporting the Toffees, you have actually been to Merseyside in winter?

Anyway, word is the final decision will be made by his family (sounds like Sydney FC were trying to impress the wrong member of the Fowler household).

Shame tho', it would have been awesome to see God play in Godzone.

Yeah Fowler is pretty much set, he invested a lot in property, maybe he's looking at investing in Sydney. Not heard the Man City chant "We all live in a Robbie Fowler home, a Robbie Fowler home"? Also picked up by Liverpool fans, or is it vice versa?
Not sure what he's looking for now.

Woohoo 100
