Just saw this mentioned in the Herald from a journo who saw the advert on the big screen that they play at the end of games.
Can we get a new stadium advert with footy in and not rugby please?

Would have thought it would have been a great time to show an ad for the next Nix home game

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

It showed a range of events at the stadium, including pic of the Nix in their 08/09 strip, also sevens I think, super 14 and npc.  I did a double take on it as well.  I guess its the stadium getting its plug in.

Its that truly horrendous stadium song sung by Midge Marsden, has plenty of Nix as well as cricket and rugby and footage from when that military tattoo was at the stadium.
As I watched it I said to my old man "some new footage for that montage tonight"

That is a good point from Jag. Rugby always advertise their next home game heavily at half and fulltime. I dont remember that ever happening at a nix game? It really is the perfect opportunity to remind people to come back.

its a stadium advert. Surely they can have one to appeal to the sport that has just taken place ie football  in our case?

You would have thought so, eh? A bit of a Nix highlights package then flash up the date of the next home game? Can't be that hard to do. They could probably nick one off You Tube.

Best part of Nix home games is sing ing "At the stadium" at the end!

"It doesn't get any better than this!"

"Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose"

"Flip that coin, flick that switch"

".. Ready to gooooooooooooooooooo!"

^^^
some of my favourite parts.

Elrich's goal is the only football I can remember seeing in it.

I actually think its fairly evenly balanced... almost as if they anticipated YF noticing.

Well I remember seeing the Lions, the Hurricanes, the Sevens, the guy singing, maybe a Haka, and Elrichs goal. Don't pay much attention to it so don't really know.

I have no idea why a stadium needs an advert, or a crap song.

Exactly. What's the point of having an advert for the stadium when you're already in the thing. Hmm. I've always hated that "At the Stadium" song as well, by the way.

I wonder if a social psychologist has advised the Minister of Keeping People Moronic and Miserable that winning Nix fans have the risk of being happy on the streets and wanting more football, therefore the ad was constructed to bring us down to earth with a sickening thud.

If Phoenix have won a game I'd rather hear some kind of uplifting celebratory song on my way out of the stadium than that 'At the Stadium' pish...I hate it!

Dont know why they showed that rugby clip. could of been an error by the technical crew. Thats what I think.

More embarassing was that they played it at the World Cup game before, I think during half time and definately at the end of the game.

FFS, a World Cup qualifyer being shown around the world and we get a friggen Rugby laden advert! And what's with the overly loud music before games right up until the ref blows his whistle for the start of the game?

Those mins leading up should be for the fans to make the noise and let the players know we are here to support them.

Sometimes i really wonder about the Stadium Trust and what goes though their minds??

I was surprised to see it - the All Whites were still on the field savouring the victory and then that song got blasted, didnt need it, I wanted to hear the crowd cheer the boys, not listen to Midge.

Classic quote was the Mayor being interviewed on the radio just prior to kick off.

"So how long have you been supportive of football?"

"Oh, since 9:15 this morning...." = that in conjunction with the advert really summed it up for me.

Did anyone watch the ad at the end of the game, I think they may have included the flag going across the crowd at the All Whites match.  Anyone spot any Nix action?

There is heaps of Phoenix action in the package.

Considering rugby has been played there since the stadium opened (2000 I think) there is obviously going to be a lot more rugby to show than 2 and a half years of Phoenix.

And in fairness there is a lot of Phoenix stuff in the ad/song, but dont let that get in the way of a good conspiracy

Ah that's great.  I only asked because I try to block out the ad when it comes on, but I glanced up and saw the All Whites clip then got distracted so missed the rest.

Will have a better look on Friday
