I asked Sarpong if he heard HIS chant yesterday, he said no. And then Roly chimed in and said that he loves his and he thinks it's great.

I don't get it.. I mean I get the song goes well and sounds cool but what is the significance of Sarpong Pour Moi? He's not French?

You mean we should sing 'In the Dutch Mountains' from the Nits?

Sarpong Pour Moi would mean Sarpong For Me. Which is... vaguely relevant and nice.

Ca Plane Pour Moi is close to Sapong Pour Moi.

Roly also isn't Scottish, remember.

Good choice there Doloras. Yes I remember. And I think this would make an excellent chant!

Agreed. On that note, I'm keen for a fever zone rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody (ala Wayne's World)

Now that would be good. If the Fever showed up in the stand earlier one day we could give it a go.

His heart clearly wasn't in it. Hope he has a good career and this was just a blip.

So do we get someone in the next day or what? Because couldn't we have done that with a Krishna injury replacement anyway?

Unless it's a multi year contract.

A-League transfer window opens later and afaik closes later than Europe, so we might have a week to sign someone. We would only have an 8-10 week window for a Krishna injury replacement deal, its hard to attract someone of quality for such a short stint.

Sarpong didn't fit in for whatever reason. Hope the rest of his career goes well.

Hopefully they have someone in mind and needed the sarpong cash to sign em.

Hopefully.

Sad news though, I had high hopes for him.

Could also be he asked to be released as he has another offer and we don't have anyone in mind to sign.

Sorry, I know this question gets asked every time so one leaves before their contract is up...... But [even with a mutually agreed parting] does his salary still fall as part of the cap until his contract was meant to be finished [end of next season].?

Permalink Permalink

Doubt it, I'd say his contract at to now counts against the cap.

honourable discharge..

Would it depend on whether we paid out the whole contract or not? If he was willing to walk without pay because he had something lined up then would it only be the money we have paid him already which would count against the cap?

To bad he did not fire up, but who he did? Would have been nice to had another quality player on the field. All the best to Jeffrey and his family.

The reason was that he just didn't seem to give a shark when on the pitch

What we have paid him so far, plus any money paid to him in a severance package will count towards the cap.

So the rest of his salary for the season won't count, unless we paid it all out to him at once when we released him.

It will be very interesting to see how his career goes from here.

I wish him well but If he goes and flys elsewhere we do have to ask some serious questions about the mangement of him whilst here

In the interim however we need to ask the question what failed in this recruitment so we don't stuff up the next one

Would be an interesting exercise to analyse the relative success of each A-league import (whether marquee or not) out of ten - in terms of success (in the context of the role they came in to play). For example: a rating out of ten for value, performance, expectation, etc etc.

Whilst I'm interested my lack of footballing competence eliminates me from effectively producing such analysis. Phew.
