SCHOOL KIDS AT GAMES

If the Phoenix were to allocate some free home game tickets to school children - what would be the best way to go about it? Through the schools (maybe via some sort of competition)? Kids free with an adult?

Interested to hear from supporters of other A League teams to hear about what they have done.

I remember they handed a whole lot out to Junior football clubs and they distributed them for teams way back when the Kingz existed. I got 1 that way wasn't too bad behind the goal where the Kingz scored to win 1 nil.

I think it would be a good idea if the Phoenix contacted local Church's youth groups, so the kids and teenagers could go to some home games as a youth group activity. I also think handing out some free tickets at schools/football clubs to be distributed through competitions is a good idea aswell.

Great idea but it needs to be done not just through football clubs,we need to hook as many new fans as we can.The Breeze has a fairly  active childrens club maybe other stations do as well. That way its also getting free airtime as well.

Also do crap like giving out free 4 people passes on radio stations by talkback radio or questionaire etc.

Either through the clubs they play through, and/or schools. Would be a good idea to do a partner thing with a company, ex, McDonalds, with every Happy Meal, buy a Pheonix ticket for just 2 dollars...some sh*t like that.

Now why didn't they do that with the Knights? It would have made a difference if a couple of thousand kiddies turned up at North Harbour.

Just make sure it doesn't give you a reputation of being desperate to get crowd numbers.

well kids will eat food at the games theres $5 per head that way aye....

but what would you think of 2000 8-12 year olds sitting next to us chanting, i think it could kill the atmosphere if they get bored and start to talk. They would have to sit somewhere else close enough to look like a pumping crowd but far away enough not to be scared or have parents complain about offensive language/chants and agressive behaviour....

this is a great idea for the clubs benifit though

Clubs like Upper Hutt and Stop Out have very large junior playing numbers.  So through the clubs would make sense.

Flag the juniors!!!! They dont chant. They sit there and do nothing. Sure a few would be nice. But id rather get college students. People that actually chant. Make the competition involve chanting so u can actually get someone the will be an asset to this fanbase. Not a little kid who brings his spiderman toys to the game. Wat a waste.

The Junior News (who is 7) lost his voice at the last Knights match and thanks to being involved in the noise wants a season ticket for the Phoenix.  Start them young, keep them and their dollars for life.

Cheap tickets for youngsters get's paying adults along, again, get them hooked and they are repeat customers.

I'm sure there will be student discounts for college students but this is about grabbing them young and keeping them and the family.

Agree with pavlos, you have to tap into the college students and the teenagers before the littlies. The Blue & White Brigade have their own little section for teens where they meet up and have their own chants, and its hooked us up to it for life. The Yellow Fever needs to find these people, not just the Phoenix.

cove has heaps of teens aswell, NSM!!! lol, tap into the young kids, 2 Free kids with each paying adult for certain games?

college kids sure do have agression and are a litle more sensless than the mature fans, would be great to get all the colleges involved but please leave out the mcevedy rival bullsh*t, fighting amongst ourselves wont look to good on camera

why don't we get a teenagers supporters crew, who can text their chants in (possibly while listening to My Chemical Romance on their Ipods)

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Agree totally "get as many bums on seats" and hopefully they will come back.

If you get 7 year old kids coming who did they bring to the game with them?
There parents so instead of 1 teenager going you get 3 people going.
Just make them side near the corner flag like what the Victory do with a family sort of area.

Don't give them inflatable clapping sticks or horns, please. Or I will seriously open a family size can of whip ass on the little bastards.

If you do have kids at the games i know its lame but every 10 mins just do a Wellington clap clap clap, wellington etc to get them involved etc.

kiwi pie, i'd be more worried about those plastic clacker thingies that seem to be popular with kids at other sports. nothing worse than having a group of young'uns near ya and all that you can hear is 'clackclackclackclackclackclackclackclackclack'

bums on seats is what will keep this franchise going, the more the merrier

Remember the Mexican Wave is for bored know nothings who would be better of watching table tennis.

just smuggle in a flask of your favourite 'remedy' and the problem is gone

...or alternitively, bribe the kids with lollipops if those clacker things are being distributed

i agree with an area far away from us hooligans for the kids....college students would be better.
as i know there is nothing better to do in this city, im sure the idea of going to a game with your mates chanting, swearing and letting out agression instead of "siting in your armchair w**king off to pop idols"- football factory, would appeal to quite a few teenagers
