Roy through the middle presumably

Jury still out on AK9's injury. Sounds like a planta facia to me and that will be quite a few weeks. Continuing to play on it last game will not have helped either.

Yeah when he went down injured he never looked comfortable from then on, I was surprised he wasn't subbed earlier.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Yeah could be Plantar Fasciitis - especially by the way he kept trying to adjust his boot to fix it.  Could've been caused be tight calves?

If you rest up properly you can get back into training usually after about 2 weeks. Obviously depending on the severity, but he shouldn't be out for too long.

So, it's not like we will be going to the market for a injury replacement (temporary for a month) for AK9?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

My personal experience of plantar fascitis is that it takes quite a while to go away, and seemingly minor movements give you a lot of discomfort, presumably due to the number of muscles and all of the soft tissue present on the soles of your feet.

If it is indeed PF, that he might miss three or four games easily - so given there are only 10 games left, I'd be looking around for a temporary fix.

Window closes tomorrow, can we have a whip-round and see if we can raise enough money to get some clubs to take some of our deadwood?

You know, like any of our keepers, Abbas, Lowry, Rogerson, Galloway, Parkhouse, Rufer?

It's impressive when you can list 9 players below A-League quality in a squad of 23.

Why the beef with Rogerson, have we really seen him play? or are people going on WeeNix form?

Permalink Permalink

WeeNix form or a complete lack of.  Some WeeNix players standout at that level.  Rogerson only stands out for the petulant sulking when he gets booked for a dive.

How's my driving? - Whine here

3 players that I recall that really stood out at Handy level were Albert Riera [pre Nix], Krishna and Singh, I understand from others that Siggy was the same. Seems you really need to stand out at that level if you're going to even have a chance at A League.

Young Callum Mccowatt's standing out for City. Starting in a strong ACFC team and only 18years old. Kids got a big future ahead of him if he can stay injury free.

Owen Parker-Price even better pre-season. Too bad he got crocked in training.

They are good but are they (at this stage) head and shoulders above the rest of the players on the pitch each week?

Besides there is little to no chance they go against the cult leader and play for the Phoenix.

Better than any of the Weenix bar Singh, maybe ahead of some first teamers too. I know I'd love McCowatt ahead of Parkhouse on the bench

I'd have ParkLife on the bench ahead of Parkhouse, that's not a high bar.

Doesn't matter anyway, the chances of the Kool-Aid drinkers playing for the Phoenix are somewhere between the chances of Parkhouse moving to the Premier league and the chances of the Phoenix winning the A-League this season.  ie - none.

Can someone tell me, with the transfer market closing tonight, are we still able to take on free agents and amateurs from tomorrow or does this mean we can't add players to our squad at all?

Pretty sure they just had to be released before the window. We obviously have at least two squad spots and have sacked our depth so desperately need players.

1 spot, Abbas hasn't been released yet.

I'm assuming amateurs can be signed anytime but for professional players, they need to be unattached when the window closed to be signed after the window closes.

Always rated young Monty. Think he should be a good signing for us, although, I don't know where he'll fit in with Burns and Ljujić, unless he can play RW?

Permalink Permalink

He csn aparently play right wing. But nit sure he is the signing we needed. Id take him if there was a second being someone a bit mire proven for those front three roles. But who knows we may get a injury replacement yet

Permalink Permalink

not totally sure about this signing, but maybe it is to have more depth out wide if burns or roy get hurt again. i mean we were pretty toothless without roy last week.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Great - we’ve signed a squaddie...

Upgrade on Watson and Rogerson? Yes

Impact on the field? No

If I compare him talent wise (not positionally) against Krishna, Burns, Ak9, Looyich and McGlinchey (basically our front 5) I don’t think he is better or as good as any of those players. He does not improve our on field team (but perhaps our squad)

I doubt he will be back at Ipswich considering this is his 3rd loan and one back to his home country and then the Phoenix will probably sign yet another winger on a dumb contract.

Maybe if AK is out for a few weeks and Roy is up top, then Monty will play right wing

My thoughts exactly. Darije is probably looking for injury cover where visa is not required and where quality might be a tad better than what he has seen so far. Money well saved.

If he is used as an injury replacement, I could get onboard with that.

Not an enthralling signing, but he is better than Italiano (minor I'll conceded)

So we have 4 'keepers on our books. Not an ideal situation. That and Lowry and Watson getting contract extensions, I hope the club considers a DoF to have better long term planning than what the football committee is currently achieving.

The tweet says its a loan initially, so we might have an option to sign/buy him
