He's actually a acmdey player in my Crewe career mode and can play cdm and lb 82 or 83 rated at the age of 20 NZ player.
sorry wrong guy, loved him in leaving Las Vegas
This thread has been dead since the transfer window ended, so I'll attempt to revive it for all you transfer speculation enthusiasts out there. Which three dream players would you want to see sign for the Nix next season, regardless of current contracts/salary/likeliness? Doesn't have to be likely but at least be a little realistic. For me it would be Dejan Damjanovic, Jordy Buijs and Manu Garcia

Nicholas Cage to Elisabeth Shue: " ....and Nicholas Price still gets all the fan mail . This is what really drove me to drink".
is ross allen a league material as a striker...seems to have always scored goals wherever he plays....i realise he would take an import spot but given some of the rubbish that vour imports have served up over the past few years he surely couldnt be a lot different...as for rufer has he been held back by the anti kiwi attitude that seemed to exist at the nix til this seaon or is he just too much of a difficult case...certainly showed glimpses of capability i feel
Can't gamble on him, it took Krishna two years to adjust. And we're seen players like Ljujic who were top players in leagues lower the land the a league struggle to adjust.
A shame Allen didn't arrive two years earlier. Is a good finisher for sure.
Bring back Justin Gulley, dunno why we let him go when he was solid at quite a young age. Hell, get JHS back too
Is this Ross Allen talk based on his stats or having seen him play?
I've only seen him play 1x, and only on the telly, and I thought he looked well off the pace against Auckland City
Is he actually pretty good?
Also, I think it needs to be remembered that the A-League sits somewhere between the Championship and League one in terms of playing standard and I would suggest we need to start looking at imports who are at least significantly better than the A-League median

Then you have Ljujic and Kaludjerovic from the Lithuainian league, Paracki from a mid-tier Croatian league team, and Rossi from an average Serie B Italian team. And sure, there are lots of other imports from lesser known leagues (like ours) that I haven't mentioned. But those include Milos Ninkovic, Leroy George and Bruno Fornaroli. Our imports are trash compared to the rest of the league, its no wonder we are last
Best case scenario: a player like Bonevacia; highly rated, still young, still hungry to play - fell out at current club for whatever reason (i.e. injuries)
Second best case: an older, well known pro like Ifill who is guaranteed to perform as long as they stay injury free

Why does nobody seem to realise this? This seeming lack of ambition really stinks out the club. And before people bring up Ifill's EPL fling on one end and Sarpong's La Liga experience on the other - Ifill was a 30 year old reserve/transfer listee for a very poor Championship team when we signed him, and Sarpong only played 19 games in La Liga in 3 years + got his contract terminated by a second tier Dutch side the season we got him.
We have never signed a player with anywhere near the pedigree of what other clubs are bringing in. Sure we lucked out with Ifill, but there is a way better chance that you'll actually get a good player if you're looking at Ligue 1 or La Liga players instead of Lithuanian and Thai league rejects.
(Also Ninkovic came from Evian in Ligue 1 iirc - and George + Fornaroli still came from better teams than any player we've picked up recently!)

I'd say Bonevacia had better pedigree than a lot of players signed for other teams.
Rossi as well, the Nix do get players from pretty decent leagues, just not this season.
ON paper we've signed some good players who for whatever reason have just honked it up when they got here.

Ross Allen is a superb finisher but I doubt his work rate is A-League quality.

JHS > Parkhouse

Agree - I've seen him play a few times and he reminded me of a Filippo Inzaghi-type player. Works hard, not flash, he can drift out of games but then he's there to bang it in when it matters. His record (admittedly at the lower level of the UK football pyramid - and so far in NZ) speaks for itself.
Don't think he's A-League quality, but we've had worse trialists....
Inzhagi is Allen's finishing matched with Watto's grasp of the offside line.

Great post. I think most of those would cut it TBH

Not a complete star for us but certainly a good player, technically much better than most of the Phoenix squad. Versatility is a big part of his game. Personally I rate him above Tade and think he'd do pretty well for the Phoenix - definitely better than Rufer and maybe Ridenton.
As someone who has seen him play a number of times I do not entirely agree with this opinion.

Unless we're talking about imports in which case the bar is much higher. Tavano would be an import no?

You'd think it wouldn't be hard for him to gain a NZ passport, having immigrated here back in 2005 with his parents from Mexico who have residency. He has spent a lot of time playing overseas though since aged 15 in 2008, first in Italy, then in Mexico.

I notice he wasn't in the OFC squad which you would assume is due to eligibility and requiring an import slot.
I see tratts back in action. would love to see him the stripes again.
Interesting. Hope he's over the challenges and can play at the top level again. Another reason to keep an eye on the NSWPL this season.

Season preview says Sutherland Sharks.

I like his proactive thinking. Why go back to a club without a certainty of a 20 year license when you can play for a club bound to be granted a 20 year license by FFA soon.
(just stirring)
He has issues that he's going to have to prove are behind him before any A-League side would consider him. Hope he comes through and Greenie and people who know him from his time here are on the phone to him.
He always struck me as the sort of person who would feel some loyalty and could be lured back here if/when he's A-Leagueable again.
