Isuzu and Isuzu ute are different companies.

Oh really? Confusing!
Those Japanese companies are all like that with companies sharing names and only tenuous connections. IIRC the Isuzu Ute is made by General Motors and is essentially a Holden Colorado.

Is the thing about having to do MIQ in Syndey if you arrive before 1 Nov, and no MIQ if you arrive in Sydney after Nov 1 still a thing?

I assume we have been given an exemption to avoid hotel quarantine? There was talk that we could wait until 1st November as that requirement ends then.

All players and staff double vaccinated and coming from a city with no Covid cases for a week or two?? - yes surely an exemption is possible.

If that’s the case, might there be a chance Hay could call up NSW-based A League for the November window. First round is after the window closes, and Sydney is hosting Socceroos vs Saudi so they’re obviously happy enough for footballers to come and go.

Be a massive boost for the eventual qualifiers to get the A League guys in as early as possible. Barbarouses hasn’t worked with Hay at all and last played for the All Whites in the game in Lima 4 years ago, but also gauging guys like Payne, Sail and even the Olympic guys at senior level. I read stuff saying they probably won’t be looked at until March, but that might’ve been before the NSW rule changes so could be different now.

Eh? That’s just mental. But okay that makes some sense then. And a ute is better than Uber Eats, imo. Poor contracts, plus near monopolist power and obesity crisis. Unless I check and see how unevironmentally friendly they are, the utes are much better.
EDIT: wait they have retired the Holden brand in Aussie for Isuzu Ute?   Or have I got that confused? That is just odd thinking, Shirley!

Mooted AWs games in Jan a better prospect. SFC (Barbs), Mariners (Roux) and Nix (take your pick) unlikely to be happy to lose their players for 7 days plus the long return flight, a week before A League kicks off.

Hay might try run some sort of short AWs camp for A League players once TT bubble opens up if there is any small window, prior Jan FIFA window.

Yeah, Isuzu Ute Australia and Isuzu are different companies.

Holden's were re-badged Isuzu's and for the last couple of years both companies sold identical vehicles but with different names.

But, you're right, GM getting rid of a beloved brand like Holden, and replacing it with "Isuzu Ute'" doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

No hard quarantine for Breakers in VIC. Presumably same for Nix in NSW.

If we get to the traffic light system (i.e. 90% vaxxed in every DB) then we can have games here, though they'd have to be behind closed doors at Red. We might make that by late Jan but it'll be a nail-biter in Tairawhiti etc.

Speaking up as Nix's token Tairawhiti based die-hard. We haven't got a prayer in hell of hitting 90% in our area. Still Cindy's supposed to be having her wedding here around the same time so maybe an exemption will be made?

I just meant living and working here at get the impression a decent of chunk of the population seem to have this idea that due to Tairawhiti's remoteness and isolation covid will never come here so there's no need to Vax. I think the sceptic crowd also have a strong foothold in the community here. I encounter people at work who are in every other aspect very normal and even successful people but are adamant they saw on social media that it makes you magnetic and they are drawing a line in the sand with that. I really hope to be pleasantly surprised though. I'd love to be able to nip down for a weekend away in Napier to catch the Nix at McLean Park this summer. Also glad that's already plans I'm place to try and get the Nix home a bit in the latter end of the season!

Would the possibility of the Nix playing a home game in the South Island if full crowds are allowed be on the cards? Or is it more likely that they’ll restrict it to Wellington behind closed doors, with a game or two in Auckland probably behind closed doors?

Another Red shirt? Hopefully! At least the players know the ground. They could have a few warm up games against the ladies. Giving both teams some fitness and game plan build ups. Not expecting anything this season But I do see a bigger picture in play.

My apologies didn't mean anything untoward by it whatsoever. Been a bit used to that name from people around me at work in day to day, didn't even register in my head as I was typing. Just saw my beloved Tairawhiti get mentioned and was excited to chime in. But I can see now how that is belittling and not good. Won't happen again.

Don’t worry mate- you were talking about the Governor General right?
Usually it’s mostly football here, but losing the Tasman bubble brought it to the surface a bit and I think everyone is a bit cranky in general.
Also good to have a source in the guts of the vaccination push.
Actually after having seeing a lot of anti-vax junk online while overseas it feels decent to hear people sticking up for the PM and that not everyone is thinking like that.
But-there’s guna be some soccer-football soon yeh?

Yes, let's ban the use of this name derived nickname.

We should also ban using Oli, Tim, Jimmy, Sutts, Hoops, Bally and Rufes.

Off topic but it depends on the intention of a nickname and if the recipient identifies with it. Some names, like Cindy, are clearly designed to belittle the authority that the prime minster has and she has said she doesn't like it. Apparently her actual "derived nickname" is Jac.

Try to steer people back in the right direction…

Doesn’t look like there’s any gaps for international windows in the fixtures which could be troubling, especially for the March window. Obviously form dependent, but would likely lose guys to the OFC qualifying tournament like Sail, Waine and Payne, and possibly, if they go well, McGarry, Lewis, Rufer or Old for 2 or more games which would test an already small squad.

Also, Matthew Bozinovski, the guy brought in on loan from the Victory,  is a current North Macedonia U21 international, and they have qualifiers in March too, so he could be off to Europe. Piscopo, if he continues his trajectory, could even push Socceroos places as well, so possibly big issues for the March 18th and 26th games.

With the Nix having a heavy back end of home games, the APL may do them a favour over that March window with the A League draw.

Ie a one game bye in that March window with say just one Nix game and then 3 home games in a week or something to follow. I guess Paramount would also have a say in that

Not particularly flexible illustration - Sotirio can play the wing/am role, as can Prso. Actually not too worried about the size of the squad, more so the abject lack of quality and experience in it...

Maybe I'm a pessimist but if we're outside the bottom three by the time we get back to NZ games in January, then that's enough for me.

It’s definitely missing a CB or two, but it’s also a team, that if fit, will score goals and will pass the ball well.
