Great evening on Saturday, enjoyable football, nice crowd however ever-so-slightly tainted by the actions of security before my fiance and I entered the ground.

Some may know that my fiance is 8 months pregnant (and it shows) and still regularly attending home matches with me. Over the last 6 months or so we have been taking a small pack to the games with us. In the pack we have a small cushion for the seats (she is finding the plastic seats slightly uncomfortable) and a bottle of water - which is especially required especially due to some complications that had happened earlier in the pregnancy (the pregnancy is fine now by the way, but advice from doctors and midwife has been to drink lots of water, often).

On Saturday, security told us to dump the water.

Protesting that it was just water, I was told again to dump the water and said that there was nothing he could do about it, as those were the rules.

In barges my fiance, a woman from the south and heavily pregnant and in her southern woman way told the security guard that she was in fact 8 months pregnant and informed the guard of the previous complication. Reluctantly, the guard called over his supervisor who immediately said no water.

Again, the situation was explained. He said no. I was about the protest, but forgetting I had an 8 month pregnant woman at my side it was not required. She was really about to launch into one before - after what appeared some serious thought and glances around to see who was looking and who was in the queue - told us to put the water in the bag and go through.

He added however, that next time we were NOT to bring the bottle of water, as water was available inside.

Now, while this is true - my fiance will be 37 weeks pregnant at the next home game. She plans to move as little as possible, ESPECIALLY in a reasonably big crowd to the fountains - and we both have no plans on spending $4 for a pitiful bottle of water!

I am pleased that common sense prevailed here, and I understand completely that security at the game have to follow somewhat seem to be strict guidelines; but what on earth are these guidelines meant to achieve? If security were successful in confiscating our water, that would have looked extremely bad on the club - even though they have little to do with the actions of security. Denying water to a pregnant woman would have been pretty low.

Luckily, after some deep thought and explaination, iit seems that Red Badge agreed as well. And I'm sorry, but I will be bringing a bottle of water again for the next home game.

What a disgrace and shame on the westpac security!! check out the westpac guidlines about what you can bring into the stadium, print it out and show the pricks at the entry gate. If they are still causing you trouble then contact media cause it will make them look like right pratts. They cannot decline you bringing in water when it clear states you can!!

You can bring up to a litre of sealed bottled water so bring two one for you and for your yr women, that way she can have 2 bottles if you know what i mean.

Make some noise cause those security are dumb idiots!!!

There was an intention to make some noise, but it all got lost in a soup of great football (and poorly made coffee, whatever happened to Gravity?).

I think, because we did manage to turn them from initially denying us, to allowing us to bring it in - we won't be making too much noise about it. It would appear they eventually realised what they were actually going to do and backed off. But what got us annoyed was the "we'll let you off this one time, don't do it again" attitude from the security - particularly the supervisor. It was as if he was doing us a favour.

I posted this really as a rant . But I know security have been known to not use their heads from time to time. Also, I kinda want a record of this. Like I said, we WILL be bringing water to the grounds again on Friday, and I will be interested to see what happens. If we are told to dump the water again on Friday, then we will really make some noise.

If they make you empty the bottles your signficant other could say - "you wouldn't want my water to break now would you?"

It's pretty simple though - bring an unopened bottle and you're fine.

If it's an open bottle then it could be gin or vodka or whatever so they make you dump it.

They have done you a favour by letting you in with an open bottle by the sounds of it.

Rules are pretty simple really and this thread just serves to put us offside with Red Badge (like the bad old days of Bottlegate).

Locked.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
