Complete conjecture but Smeltz has either started or come off the bench in just about every Halifax game he's been available for and this morning in their game v Crawley Town he was nowhere to be seen.

Is he good enough? I mean he does play for Halifax!

True - he's a big target type striker though - something we're not exactly blessed with - could be good against big Aussie defenders.

Would take Smeltz as backup to the first team ----- At best.

Smeltz is the sort of signing I was worried about seems we are going about turn, instead in the past we signed anyone from England now if you are a NZ'er even playing in conference then could well be signed.

For me Totori is a far better bet as a gamble on a striker and only takes 1 foriegn spot.

Likewise.

If people had have been banging on about Keryn Jordan and Grant Young etc that would have been different but I really hope some faith is shown in Totori.

I'd really like to see Totori signed on a short term contract, even a 5 game one if needs be. He should at least be given a shot, and I don't see any other players in this part of the world who could fill his shoes.

The only thing that makes me think Ricki and co would be hesitant in signing him is the fact that Menapi was banging in 20+ a season and now all of a sudden is still scoring but not as consistent.
Also Young and Jordan have scored less this season, but to me that is injury and age for the latter two.
There is room in any squad for an out and out goal poacher.

what about Ben Feld from Manawatu/Wests? have him on one flank and costa on the other flank bombing in to help a good target man.....deadly!

Moss/paston for sure but why would Mulligan leave Sc**thorpe as they will be in the old div 1 so pretty high standard of football, but would love to have him and he is a dead ball specialist.

Christie NO! and Smeltz NO!

Costa yes but do not remember if feld was playing the only time I have seen Manawatu play.

What about Sandbrook and Robinson if you are down from that way?

Yeah ben Feld from wests class, Costa as well up front, we got ourselves a scoring bomshell.

If we want Christie, why not sign Webster instead? for me I'd put Webster in front of Christie because they play just about the same position on the field.

Smeltz is useless- FACT

I am with Safire on choosing Adrian Webster over Jeremy Christie, to me thats clear cut.

Feld is nowhere up to A League Class. Team Wellington didnt even want him (though that dosent mean alot I know) and he wasnt a regular starter for YHM in the games I watched, nor a regular for Wests last season. Just cause a guy has a little speed dosent make him a good player.

A dog with a bone :)
