He really crapped out today, no one come back with "Oh he got a great header" it was luck that he got anywhere near the bloody thing if you see the replay and thats debateable whether he even got it!, and his constant offsides ruined any chances our mid's put fourth for us, a poor, poor effort Mr. Smeltz.

It was only his offsides that let him down today, thought his workrate was pretty good though.

seriously wtf... leave smeltz alone, hes got one heck of a job in the position he is.. the offside rule where players coming from slightly infront to way behind defenders to pick up the ball is stupid as there is no advantage whatsoever to the attacker... ref had a shocker, some of those free kicks he gave against us were pathetic, smeltz did fine

firstly show me proof the ball was over the line???? you telling me theres a little buzzer that sounds when the ball goes over the line?

players of his caliber should know where to be when the cross comes in, offsides of that ammount are TOTALLY unexceptable!

The guy had no support up front. When you have one man up front your either need to be one step in front of defenders (hence the offsides) or have teammates running past.

no, id still take smeltz over brownlie anyday of the week, all im saying is in my opinion he spoiled the finishing of the set pieces, like the last shot we had, he put it over the net from point blank range, all it needed was a tap in.

Pretty hard playing up front on his own with not much in the way of support from oncoming midfielders. I thought he did quite well despite the offsides and in the end whether you like it or not he did get us the equaliser right at the end so don't go bagging him too much.

no offence intended but its very easy to sit back and watch it happen then comment he should have got it in, but that shot was extremely difficult, not to mention u could see his balance was off because of the movement needed to get around the keeper, he was off balance and trying to hit an incredibly acute angle..

So lets talk about the REAL team problem, whenever the opposition get the ball they fall back and continue to fall back which is INCREDIBLY dangerous when you have playes like Djite and Cassio ready to hammer it home. they MUST start attacking as when they are continually trying to defend like last week and some periods this week they are greatly increasing the chances of the otehr team getting the equaliser, they cant hold out for ever now can they?

hold the defenders off and wait for them, thats part of his role, the commentators commented on this.

The commentators commented on this? Are you talking about that useless f#ggot De Jong, hes so negative and is jelous of Wellington since Auckland sucked with the Knights and Kingz. Smeltz is class, yes a few stupid things but his workrate is terrific.

With the title of this thread being what it is,it sure sounds like your bagging him.I just dont get why some of continually feel the need to bag the players.
Think i prefer Rickys judgment  than that shown by some of you.

Afterall, he did score the equilizer.....and that did feel good didnt it!!!!!

Don't agree - he player pretty well although whether the tactics are right is debatable. I think I'd make changes in the starting line up for next week.
