Posts between me and another member have been deleted in the
'throwing' thread.
While the postings were in the form of an arguement, both of
us had valid points without getting overly carried away (except for
the cut and thrust of lively debate).
Around the same time I had a new topic posting headed "crowd
violence" deleted and the message moved to within the above
thread.
Guys, you need to be careful about what you delete or alter in
a forum such as this. It is all very well to try and show a
united front etc but there needs to be some consideration of
the freedom of members to post often diverse viewpoints, no matter
how painful they might be.
Judging on previous form, I wouldn't be surprised if this post
was deleted too.

That's pretty sh*t.
why?
This board needs to be moderated, and I am sure if the NP asks
the mods why his posts were deleted, he would have been given a
suitable reply. Posts like his are only there to cause
trouble.

Maybe I missed the post in question. I didn't see anything remotely worthy of moderation.

i agree with the mods - some people (including me) benefit from censorship from time to time

I disagree, I think it is a valid point to raise. I have just
as much right as any other Yellow Fever member to post freely on
this site and your comment that I should start my own forum if I
don't like it is just peurile.

not really, you don't have unlimited right to post whatever. There's freedom of speech laws, yet that doesn't mean you can just walk up to someone and abuse them. I know you wouldn't do that but you get my point...there's always boundaries even on the interweb

Rubbish. Your new post was moved as there was already a thread that covered the point. The rules quite clearly ask you to place it in a suitable thread if one already exists.
The majority of the media stories about 'crowd trouble' have emanated from comments on this forum. Many of those comments have not accurately reflected what has actually occured at the stadium and for obvious reasons we see no reason to condone that or posts that will inflame the situation.
Last night there were a lot of ill-informed opinions being batted around. I don't remember deleting your fight (I did read some of it) but I had to delete a pile of stuff and it may have got caught in the cross fire.
If so sorry.

no we wont delete this thread. We only delete threads with petty
arguing between two people who might as well PM each other,
or threads which are set up which cover the same ground as several
other ones.
Oh I think I might have answered your question there..
If you want the forum unmoderated then good luck picking through the crap.

I agree with you Cosimo. I suppose my beef is that my postings were
censored yet they weren't even what I'd consider slanderous,
offensive etc. I called something he did 'stupid', he
disagreed and called me patronising, I said i still thought he was
stupid and we childishly went back and forth a bit.
Amongst our childishness we both made some good points:
Mine, that I thought some of the chanting and baiting of
opposition contributed to the actions of the bottle throwers.
His, that only if they were idiots and that he had every right
to cheer/support in his own fashion.
Hardly earth shattering stuff worthy of censorship.

But something that should be PM'd to each other.
Not many people like reading squabbles between two people
- that's what the PM function is for.

Reading HN's post, I accept that may well have happened, I've seen
it before when certain posts are deleted and others connected to
them through 'quotes' etc end up being erased too. If so, I'm
pleased to hear it.
Feverish, you are in danger of throwing out the baby with the
bath water by deleteing in such a fashion. By doing so the rest of
our community has missed out on the opportunity to debate the 2
different points of view put across by myself and NZpower
.
.I still think there was an element of sanitisation here, while
the press/media do use the forum for articles I think the major
story here is the fact that someone threw a bottle at the game and
the club and YF are doing something about it. Misinformation or
arguements by posters in the forum are not likely to be a big story
are they?
Perhaps another topic for discussion?

If you hear or read some of the reports it gives the impression
that multiple people threw a barrage of bottles at the Mariners
players. This was posted here and was the impression certain
parts of the media had by Tuesday morning.
As you can see that is a completely different thing to one idiot throwing a bottle.
Disagreements occur in the stands, many less than I have seen at most Rugby or Cricket matches I have attended, but if you read some of the emotive clap trap on here it sounded like a 80's english terrace which is quite patently untrue.
That's before I start on the 'it wouldn't even make the news in greece' or 'he should have aimed for the referee' rubbish.
The media (and ourselves) have chosen to make this Yellow Fever's challenge to resolve and in order to that we will maintain a tight reign on this forum for a while. Much as we did when the mayoral candidates were in.
(...and you don't see half the trolls like Tanas left ear, or whatever his name is).

I agree that the YF fishheads are doing the right thing in
attempting to resolve this overall situation. In that spirit I
accept my little postings are colateral damage and give a hearty
endorsement to you guys for doing something and not sitting on your
hands ( and I'm not being facetious sp?? either).

I think this forum's pretty well moderated actually. The Partick
Thistle fan site which I'm a member of, and which is extremely well
moderated, has been threatened with legal action on more than one
occasion because of comments or allegations which have been posted
on there. I'm not suggesting this might happen to YF, but recent
events might be a wee reminder that we should remember what we post
is open to a far wider audience than YF and might be open to
misinterpretation or misrepresentation.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

yeah i couldnt believe it when i saw and read in some media that
"several bottles" were thrown, and from "many parts of the crowd".
It was one bottle (though someone said 2?), and from one part of
the ground...it was wrong...but we were all made to look like
hooligans (tv 3 even showed clips of football violence in
england..).
It has been blown way out of proportion, and yes probably
because of posts on this forum, therefore i agree with the thread
being locked, and any misgiuided and idiotic posts being deleted,
due to the forum beig heavily in the media spotlight (honestly they
will jump at anything to make us look bad it seems..)

dude my posts are deleted all the time, dont worry about it. The
mods are afraid we will be quoted on the news because TV3 used that
"throwing" thread in their news item about the bottle
incident. The media also frequent this site and think what some
idiots say are the opinions of everyone here.
That whole bottle thing has been blown way out of
proportion.
BUT good on the MODS for starting this site and actually
getting YF running, I know a lot of people who said they
would start "fans clubs" and did absolutly nothing.

We also need to be careful we don't make generalisations on the
media as well.
While TV3's item did have some British items (I believe one was Scottish) the rest of the item was pretty balanced and reasonable.
Even within one media organisation, the difference between one staff memeber and another can be significant as well.

Thats true, different reporters doing different views on football.
TV3 have been very good to us, which is why it surprised me a lot
when they were comparing one bottle being thrown, with hooliganism
in britain.
So yeah, theyre not all bad, didnt mean to suggest it was
really.
