Does anyone get the mag? The editor wants some help and seeing as its the only NZ footy mag, we should keep him a hand and advertise free for him on YF.

What do ya think?

Why not eh? We maon about the media not supporting footy, and when someone puts this kind of publication out there we really should get behind it.

Yeah I bought the latest yesterday, and he's never even broke even on a monthly basis. Yet he keeps going. So I dont see any harm in giving the man a helping hand, he works aswell to keep the magazine going.

I get it everymonth.  Love it, could offer some recomendation but feel that would be unfair as I can appreciate how bloody hard the guy works to keep it running.

I'm sure a little constructive criticism wouldn't go amiss. . .  There's always the letters to the editor section, criticism is what that is there for. And I think editors appreciate it when people provide feedback becasue it means that people are reading, which is crucial.

I am peeved that he didn't mention Yellow Fever in this issue - when every other media has. Other thatn that I think he is doing a great job at getting NZ footy out there!

Any chance you could put him a little advertisement on the site Feverish?

any chance he can mention us next month? Only a six page spread with a big pic of me.
Yeah I'll try and think of some way to plug it.

Perhaps you couild approach them and do a swap. Adbvertising on the website in exchange for a monthly YF colum or something? There's a few folks around YF with writing skills. . . .

I dropped him an e-mail and mentioned that he could possibly include more WP in the mag and could mention YF.

Sounds like a very fine idea. I'm sure he'd be more than happy for some help.

Good call - if you're looking at buying the mag on a regular basis subscription is the way to go - it's cheaper for you in the long run and also more beneficial to him.
Latest issue with Chris James on the front has a 2 for 1 subscription deal - so$62 (i think) and 2 copies of the mag every month - bloody good value.

http://www.soccertalk.co.nz/ yip, cut out the distribution and retail outlets which swallow at least 65% of the cover price (i work in publishing, so trust me i know) if you're feeling extra generous, you also won't go for the 2 for one deal!

yep I get it all the time - its a great read myself. You can't blame the womans coverage cos they obviously have people who are committed to submitting the articles, so good on em - maybe this is a prime opportunity to get James Dean and Frankie Mac on the payroll to provide the Central perspective because I always find it lacks any articles about whats happening in this region. The college articles also used to be good cos you could always read about an up and coming youngster who is potential and reading about them early in there career means youre able to track there progress.
Focus on the New Zealand teams (age group and womans) is generally good but sometimes its a month or two old (maybe its just the timing of deadlines etc). Used to buy Sitter, that was a good politically "incorrect" read about whos not in and out - very subjective but great to read the gossip, whispers.
So overall, I'm glad to support Soccertalk (maybe they will change to FootballTalk LOL) to keep in touch on whats happening locally and with Kiwis overseas. Good luck to em and long may it last!

I'm sorry, but that is just plain not true. Soccertalk is a darn good magazine, and most of the British football magazines that I have read are nothing short of waste-paper with which to light the fire. World Soccer and Shoot etc are really average magazines.

I'm sure someone could knock up an article that would entertain.  I think this thread has provided advertising in itself. Will do a promo for the next issue - and hopefully it won't overlook the greatest thing to happen in football recently - the birth of Yellow Fever (apart from the Phoenix, U-20's, Wales result, and Killen signing with Celtic).

I'm in the process of renewing my membership actually. James or Frankie - so you want the other half of the two for one deal?

Sorry bro - did not mean to offend anyone - what I was meaning all those who are involved in putting the commentary / articles and updates on Yellowfever so if this includes Feverish and anyone who is associated with this great site, then all the merrier!

I am aware that he/they also do a promotion with the local football club if you do a subscription/  Like when Ronaldoknow (frequent poster on this site) got a years subscription, his/my football club got $15.  Cha-ching!

You don't want Frankie writing anything without getting the grammar checked first. He is good at drawing though (and offending people).

Soccer Talk is a great read every month. Get a 12 month sub and keep it going - don't let it become the latest casualty in the Football media stakes. My wife got me a sub for my birthday and I don't get to read it until the bloody kids have finished with it. Well worth it and one way of fighting the negative publicity football  gets in the general media.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Yeah same - both good reads. Soccertalk are using volunteers a lot so some of the writing can be a bit average but at least it's NZ football - more than you'll get in Match - whoevers bright idea that was.

Was supposed to be the Gazza Strip no doubt - England away circa Euro 96 with the No 8 on the back.
