don't you hate sponsored stadium names? it's good to have the
sponsorship, or else we wouldn't have the stadiums right? but
for me mount smart stadium is where nz folklore has been made, not
eriksson. i think you get the point.
anyway, the westpac trust stadium doesn't actually have a non
sponsored name, so herein lies the opportunity...
i reckon we need to establish a serious, football (soccer)
related name for the stadium, perhaps related to the phoenix.
my motives are purely sinister; i want to hijack a facility that
was built for rugby and cricket and make it ours by name at
least.
imagine it... i would love it if yellow fever was to
become steve tew's biggest bain. instead of having him
drivvle along about exchange rates on tv3, wouldn't it be great to
hear him state that yellow fever were his biggest strategic
business concern?

The Onion Bag?
That's
brilliant! LOL.Whatever we call it, it can;t have any military references
like "the fortress" or "the castle" or anything pish like a sports
journalist would come up with.

The Roost? The Burning Tin? The - dare I say it - ashtray??
I suck at naming. You want it to avoid being too epic. But not
derogatory.
...the colosseum? Thats Roman. The phoenix is Egyptian (or
Chinese or Russian, or Arizonian).

Firebowl is pretty cool... The Nest was mentioned in another forum
as being a good nickname for the supporters section inside the
stadium, that's why I didn't pitch it. Either/or though. I'm not
fussy. I just want some FOOTBAWL

mentioned.
