Yep i've jumped the gun but hey, this is my strating lineup vs Glory.

GKP Moss (deserves it over Paston and has been keeping well)
DEF Christie (in career best form)
DEF Dodd (our rock)
DEF O'Dor (Solid enough but needs to step up to keep his spot)
DEF Lochhead (Offers alot on attack)
MID Johnsen (Some say they dont see what he does but watch closely)
MID Aloisi (Hasnt impressed me as much as i thought, been ok and good leadership tho)
MID Brown (He is a terrific player, distribution skills second to none in this league)
ATM Daniel (I dont get why people bag him, if he got the penalty he deserved he'd be a hero)
ATM Felipe (Class, hopefully here for years to come)
STR Smeltz (Ignore the guy who was bagging him, he will make amends this week)

Reserves:
Paston
Old (More versatile than Clebo)
Elrich (To make an impact in the second half)
George (loved his spark)

I suspect that ferrante will start instead of brown, but im a tim brown fan so hope he starts.
Thought George provided a different style which we need!
GO THE NIX!
PREDICTED SCORE Phoenix 3 (Smeltz, Daniel, George)
                                Glory     1 (Dragicevic)

yeah I would have that lineup as well - But maybe put felipe up into attack and play a 4-4-2.

two-one is my predicted score

with goals from Felipe and Smeltz

nah i think the formation is ok for the moment, altho i do agree felipe should be slightly more forward, but not as a striker, he is at his most dangerous running at the defence, not recieving the final pass

fair enough you have a point. I just don't like playing with one up front. Smeltz often looks isolated with crosses etc going to no one as the penalty box is empty of phoenix players. Ricki says he wants to play fast attacking football I think an extra striker would do that.

It might be a bit early to be discussing this - the way Brown's season has gone, he might slip in the shower, hurt his knee and be unavailable again...

Probably Ferrante then. He's copped a lot of unfair criticism previously, but didn't have a great game yesterday.

I agree that this is the best eleven, but the Perth game may be one week too early for both Brown and Elrich to start.  However, I'd like to see this eleven (injury permitting) start the following week. I'd imagine Brown and Elrich will both be in the matchday squad for Perth.

On the bench you really need to be (a) versatile or (b) able to make an attacking impact if the side is behind, which means that Cleberson may struggle from here to get a look-in.  Old will be there under (a) because he can pretty much cover the whole back four. I'd also like to see Lia get a chance, just as George did last night - apparently he's very good when 100% fit.

Suspensions will also play their part soon - both Daniel and Aloisi are now on 3 yellows - one more and it's a mandatory week off.

Also World Cup Qualifiers will play apart. I think the first game is Oct 7th so you wont see that 11 for a long while.....

I'd like to see Patson given a game.
I know this shouldnt come into it but All Whites have games comming up and they both need game time.

A dog with a bone :)

The only problem with that nightz is that Moss is playing well and hasn't put a foot wrong. You can't rotate your keeper.... but as a keeper myself, I admit to bias on that. However, I still think the keeper position should be locked in. It's there for Moss to lose not for Paston to win.

exactly - even though Ricki is the all whites coach he can't put the all whites ahead of the club. Just because it would be a good idea to give patson some game time, it shouldn't be at the expense of the club.

When he shows Ricki he contribute to a more solid def.

But to be honest I would like to see him on the field he brings something special to the game. More energy I guess

Yeah i would like Costa to get a run. Hopfully he silences his critics.

As for cleberson, it was dissapointing to see him grabbing bench in the last games as it is certinaly entertaining at the least. when he is on the pitch.

I didnt realy see any immediate danger by keeping him in the starting four. Maybe because Christie dropped ricki thought otherwise.

Eh? He was pretty shaky at the back in all of his starts. O'Dor has been much better. Cleberson is certainly entertaining but you shouldn't really notice defenders. If you notice them, it means they either stuffed up or are trying to be too fancy. :P

When WCQ come along Paston and Moss will be out so we won't have a reserve keeper.

It would be nice to see some of these young'uns but for the same argument that people are saying you can't bring Paston in for Moss, you can't bring Costa in for (insert name here). He's got to be better than the guy on the park or else its not fair to the other players.

I also think that this is more an apprenticeship for these kids. Unlike previous years where they have picked some bloody strange choices for the youth players, this year they have it right. I doubt you'll see any of them get game time because our squad (dare I say it) has talent that has not been seen in a quasi 'NZ-based' side since Adam was a cowboy. I would also ask how he would go running against a Kevin Muscat per se or some other hard cnut. It could damage the kid. Patience for the padawan. They will learn in time.

We can sign a keeper on a temporary basis.

I think Brian Turner has already said that either Moss or Paston will play for the All Whites, the other for the Phoenix, not both. Spoonley will sit on the bench for the Phoenix. Who Ricki picks for the reserve keepers spot for the All Whites is anyones guess (Eaddy, Nicholson, Utting, Bannatyne)

I feel it would be tough to drop Johnson, hasn't done a lot wroong, especially if we are playing a 5 man midfield, brown in for Ferrante who can hopefully make a bigger ipact with better distribution but can't see any reason to pull Johnson when he and aloisi have been holding relatively well

Im pretty sure Costa cant play due to FIFA rules.

I think Smeltz should be out of the squad for Perth until he does something about that haircut.  Is he from South Auckland or Hamilton or somewhere like that?  It really is too stupid.  Until he sorts that out play anybody else - even Mark Paston - as striker.

In my opinion Moss has lost form and Paston should be starting. Remember Paston was 1st choice till injuried and I think as he's no longer injuried he should now be starting.

Any new updates on the team anybody? Is Tim Brown going to get a game? or George?

And how has Moss lost form, he's playing better now than he has all season.

Lost form? Dont you mean he's on form. I dont see what he's done wrong. To be honest i've been really impressed by him.
