COuld get 12,000+ there, post-RWC and free tickets for kids. Hopefully the atmosphere is the same as the last Melbourne game, and hopefully the performance by the lads is on par with that game also!

Their definition of 'children' is flawed as well, free tickets are only for under 13's, while Ticketek class anyone 16 and under as a child.

I don't think expecting 2,000+ members to queue at the Ticketek booth on game day is the smartest way to distribute the free tickets to members.

And another dis-incentive for season members: If you have to wait until game day it is highly unlikely you can get the extra kiddies seats next to yours. So you'll all end up sitting around in Aisle 30 something in Siberia or over in Aisles 10-12 in the colder Siberia.

I don't get why they insist on making us wait until gameday, surely it would be much better for us to head down to the MFC box office during the week and sort it out then instead of massive lines on the day?

The more I think about this message, the more annoyed I am at the hypocrisy of the DP.

A couple of days ago they rang up offering old subscribers a half price subscription. Glad I turned them down toute suite.

I think they must really be struggling as well, hence the low-brow approach to try and sell more papers.

You lot are all full of it. The dp has given decent coverage to the nix right from the outset. And this is a a good gesture. I will be taking my allotment of kids anyway.

That is what I was thinking when I read through this (apart from the part about taking my kids...). At the beginning, the Dom Post gave very good coverage to the Nix, and from what I can see from afar, it has continued.

So what if they wanted Terry out - another arguement for another day (that has already been done more than enough) but he was a profile TV celebrity who has f**ked over a large number of small businesses and organisations. That is news and that is what they covered.

For me, whenever the Phoenix have been covered in Section D, they have been covered well. However, whenever the Phoenix get a mention in section A, the coverage has been mostly negative.

Some pretty negative coverage in section D too from memory - a right t!t who was the Fairfax sports editor.

However while I will rant against the DP and the coverage of the Nix and/or Terry, my reasons for not renewing subs with it aren't purely on its coverage of this or even football in general. The whole thrust of the paper has been very tabloid in recent years. I don't need to waste money on that.

Actually, can I change my stance on this?

I got a letter published in the letters to the editor section around the time of the first game saying something along the lines of I have criticised you when your coverage of the Phoenix has been bad, but it is now very good - well done. What was very strange when it was published was that it was not sent in as a letter to the editor, but it was just a letter that I wrote to the editor. When I got told by people that my letter to the editor had been published, I was confused as I hadn't tried to send a letter..........anyway, not important.

I have no idea what my thoughts are on the Dom Post coverage, and I now realise I have to stop sniffing so much Ajax.

Since Welnix took over, everything the Dom Post has printed been very positive, even the article about our tribute to Terry. The Friday Sport before the season launch had very good coverage, and I'm guessing that the main reason it only got one page in todays paper is because of that other game this weekend...

So I have nothing against them now, apart from when they try to state that they have been supporting the Nix right from day 1.

I don't like it at all. They had a vendetta against Terry, much like Nipper, but that has been discussed thoroughly in both the DP and Terry threads.
