sitting in the fever zone was amazing! loads of noise and plenty of ingenius chants. everyone in our section did the team proud. we managed to get Moss to wave to us via a chant, and the Sydney keeper was having it ripped out of him, lol. Good times.

Now it just needs to spread a bit further 'round the stadium and the atmosphere will be amazing. Can't wait for the next game at the stadium!

Atmopshere probably would have been beetter at a sol out newtown park but anyway if theres good atmosphere for 5000 fans think what it will be like for 20,000.

I had fun making a bit of noise, but was nera 1/2 way so probably confused soem of the rugby parents, but hey you've gotta make a bit of noise

Great win!! Great start to our home campaign! Still smilin'!!!!!

Lets hope that noise does spread round the ground as the season goes on!

I am sure that once the rest of the crowd gets to know the chants they will join in.

haha ye really good game at times. Start of 2nd half was very average. But whenever we were on attack we looked dangerous. Top 3: Smeltz, Alosi, Cleberson or Dodd.

thought the atmossphere was great.  I reckon some of the basic chatns will catch on.  It will be great to hear everyone singing.

Yellow Fever zone was fantastic.  I found the chants directed towards the stewards very entertaining.

Great stuff.  Lets keep it up for the league.

I waited a season and a half for the Knights to win a home game... and the Phoenix win their first home game.

How come Auckland got the sh*t team??

Yeah, we had great time singing 'we're not Auckland anymore'. Although my personal favourite was Clint Bolton progressing from the worst keeper in the league at the start of the game to about the fifth worst towards the end. And the chants aimed at the stewards were inspired.

Well done to whoever used the "Oh when the saints go marhcing in" song. I was trying to remember the lyrics we used to sing it again in the second half but couldn't remember what we had sung

This better become one of our bread and butter chants!

fever zone was good for a start but i feel we can improve. I think about 200 of us were chanting but in places it was only 30-50. The wellington chant was the best as everyone was singing/chanting it together.

I really hope that the YF zone does not have "families" as the look on some of the parents faces were not very welcoming.

i think for the real season we have core chants and a few random ones, we need leaders though to avoid people slacking off

great fun though and great result for the fans, no nutral fans can argue with 3-0.

im pumped for the melbourne game.

IM PHOENIX TIL I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps by families i mean mum/dad taking there 5-8 year olds out for An adventure, if your a parent on this site and dont mind if your young child heres drunken chanting and the occasional outburst of swearwords then fine bring em in to the YFzone, as long as the chant they'll have fun haha

Yeah, there was a dad with a couple of little ones right below us at the start of the game, I think they lasted only about 5 minutes and then hastily got away.

Best moment was the second goal. We were still on the come-down from the frist goal celebrations when the place went ballistic. Aisle 21 turned into a mad house! Teh noise was superb and the whole lot of us were jumping all over the place!

Then the "Wellington" chant started and most of the ground seemed to join in (it seemed that way cos it was so effing loud)

Man it was fantastic. . If anyone is thinking of missing any home games, they would have to be mental. . .

Some very clever chants Ginger, I assumed only alcohol could bring that kind of creativity!

I luved the "are you Auckland in disgiuse" and "same old aussies, alway cheating" chants, but the best had to be

" guess you paid for, guess you paid for, robbie folwers holiday, robbie folwers holiday" to the tune of bread of heaven

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

"You've got the worst keeper, in the league".....was a beauty and used to great effect!!  Clint Bolton hadn't let a goal in in about 6 hours prior to coming to the Ring of Fire.......

Sensational day out...best Sunday in a long time.  Great atmosphere in the Backbencher prior as well - cheers for hosting us.  Hope the Thistle takes it to another level.

Chants were great for a first game - we can only grow...in numbers as well as voice.

Great work Yellow Fever!!!!  Everyone I know that went and have spoken to loved it....

Phoenix til I die.....

Even the lead up to the goals were awsome. Every time the nix had the ball and were close in on goal you could hear the excitment through the wide murmers being herd around the stadium side.

Great day out! The atmosphere was similar if not better than that of a Lower League game in England and definately better than the old days of the NSL.

I'm excited about the season ahead and only wish the next fixture wasn't in Chch!!!

Well I thought the Yellow Fever lads were great with all the chanting and singing down there in Aisle 21.  I was over in Aisle 27 in line with halfway and about 3/4 of the way to the top of the stand and the noise was great up there as well.  I personally can't remember jumping as high or as long as I did when we scored our goals!!!! Can't wait for the first A-League game!!!! With 20,000 the atmosphere should be fantastic!!!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA brilliant!!!! I was a ball boy, the one between the benches and evn there on the other end of the stadium was amazing, and I got to see the benches go mental. Ricki's voice was gone in about 10 mins.  Can't wait for the next game

The best thing about the atmosphere was that it was allowed to generate. No music played during the game itself allows chants to grow & spread - thats why US sports grounds are like morgues whilst English footy grounds have real atmosphere.

Normally all NZ sports ground announcers tend to play some sh1te music whenever there's so muchg as a 10 second gap in play. Fans CAN entertain themselves (as we saw yesterday) & generate their own atmosphere.
