I think I speak on behalf of The Beach when I sincerely thank the Yellow Fever for your respect and support shown to our GCU lads this afternoon. The banner of support for The Beach too was especially appreciated by our guys and girls.
It's a very tough time for everyone who loves GCU and it's great that in this uncertainty we can have the friendship of our football family in NZ.
Once again thanks heaps and fingers crossed our teams will get to do battle again next season. Best of luck in the finals Nix.

I enjoyed making the banner to hold up to support you guys, since it's the fans (just like us) that are going to be the real losers out of all of Palmers problems.

We know (sort of) what it feels like given all the uncertainty we had through the last off season. I guess the remaining home games are key to see if something else can be started up on the Gold Coast. Need big home crowds to convince everyone it can work there and see just how bad the Palmer effect was. All the best.

Awesome. Proud to be part of this great supporters group.
Well done Patrick, and everyone who worked on the idea. WD GCU and The Beach.
Good times.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Excellent banner that looked great from over in Aisle 12. I am proud that no one did the usual boo when the GCU team was announced. total respect shown for the players and their fans. I too, hope GCU do survive and with a better owner.
I feel so sorry for GCU fans getting shafted by their ex owner in regards to how they were treated. Disgusting at best. Palmer is yet another rich boy with a rich toy. He should be doing America's Cup yachting. Football is about fans, community, team & club. GCU fans have been very good to travelling supporters and hopefully this will continue.
Love him or loathe him - and I actually thought well of Miron, I'd love to see him back there. It might not have worked this season but he's a good coach and proved in previous seasons, to be quite astute.
I hope GCU survive.

Cheers Moz. All the best for next season, here's hoping.
Was quite a turnaround for us in the crowd to clap the opposition players as they were being announced...those that weren't there probably didn't see it on tv.Was sustained applause for them, particularly in the YF Zone, felt good and right, tbh.
All credit to the GC lads too, considering the shots on goal, 2-0 was a low scoring affair, the backs and keeper worked particularly hard.

There were a few muppets that booed Maceo Rigters when his name was called but otherwise good clapping everyone.
And agree with RedGed about GC lads working hard etc

I think the GCU players appreciated it as well when they left the field and the fans that were still in the stands applauded them instead of giving them the customary "Who are ya"

hopefully whoever they play next week that they show GCU the same support

Why would anyone be a muppet for booing Maceo Rigters?
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Even though I'm not a Rigters fan, he's still had the rug pulled out from under him and his playing future, got to have a bit of sympathy.

He gets paid (pretty well) to play football... if GC goes, he'll simply move on to another club/league/country (and fair play to him) so please excuse me if I don't shed too many tears.
The ones I feel sorry for are the majority of the young kids in the squad who probably won't get that opportunity/choice.
And, the fans who are losing their club and won't get any a-league unless they head up the M1.
I sincerely hope THAT doesn't happen.

Agree with everything that's been said above about the club and its supporters.
Anyone got a pic of the banner? I missed it. What did it say?
Don't worry, I found the pic in the other thread. Great work!
All the best to The Beach, may they return next year.

As much as I admire the GCU fans for their stalwart support of their team, I think the unfortunate truth is that the FFA have it in for them, and are angling for West Sydey team, so won't be in a rush to 'save the beach'.
I think they've been given the mark of the Fury.

IMO Gold Coast will only return next year if they get 10,000+ crowds to their last home games. It will be interesting to see what they do get now Clive is gone, but I just don't see the support being there.
