The next Phoenix home game promotion

This is the sort of promotion the Phoenix back-room staff should come up with for the next home game.

Adjusting prices for US CPI, the current exchange rate, and for the fact that drinks served at the stadium are 400 ml as opposed to 237 ml, we should be looking at getting beers for around $1 a bottle.

Make it happen.

Westpac Stadium and Wellington Phoenix FC are two completely different entities. Westpac Stadium control prices because they are the ones who receive money from sales of refreshments. Wellington Phoenix merely use Westpac Stadium as a venue. This promotion could be viable if Wellington Phoenix FC owned there own ground.

I would literally fly down for the game if this promotion was on.

Three for me, and two for them.

Think we should become the Marketing Department for the Phoenix, Arsenal. We'd get the fans in.

Been down this road before. Westpac Trust w**kers didn't even have the courtesy to send a reply of acknowledgement. They treat everyone who hasn't got money with complete contempt or so thats the impression they are giving!

We would get more than 19,200 there, that's for sure.

What is the contract the WPFC have with the stadium, these deals over stadium rights and 'pourage' has been a big issue here.

May be a comment that Tony P needs to reveal. Newcastle Jets (hate that name) had big issues with stadium management in Newcastle, the NSW Government had to step in.

See my post above, would be good if Tony P came and answered it, I'll raise it directly on here.

Wouldn't work because of the NZ Liquor licensing laws on SALE and SUPPLY. Also referenced is FORCED CONSUMPTION and RESPONSIBLE SERVICE.

This does come under it and thus would not happen

Grumpy old bastard alert

Grow up people.

If that did ever happen you'd have a cheap day out followed by no club. Think about it.

as someone who works with the brewery's. the liquor licensing is not entirely up to the stadium. It is up to the venue hirer to decide which brand of alcohol is supplied at nix games. Basically its a Lion Vs DB thing that changes all the time based on who offers the organisers the best deals.
There is a reason events at the stadium swap from Tui to Speights quite frequently.
IIRC Tui were the brand for the first Nix season, then after some Football educated publicans showed Lion brewery's the error of their ways, you now have Speights for nix games.
Nix make money from Concessions, corporate box hire etc.

But cheap beer will never happen...ever. licensing at stadiums is dodgy enough as it is with the near non existent ability to prevent people from excess consumption. Health and safety blah blah, host responsibility blah blah. you get the idea.

If beer is a no go, then we could have an offer whereby everyone over 18 who attends gets a voucher for a cheap hooker that night. I'm sure we could negotiate some really good deals. Most hookers probably spend a fair amount of the night not doing anything, so if we can promise them a fair amount of people taking up the offer, they'll definately be able to offer large discounts. It'd be quite a good atmostphere too, if the bar at the brothel was filled with Phoenix fans jeering each other on.

But what if we don't want to play a match in The Hutt???

Ha Haaa! hilarious C-diddy. In all seriousness, we could do it like a coffee card. After your 4th hooker you get the 5th one free

Except you'd have people leaving the game early every week to make sure they don't end up 15th in the queue.

Most sensible post all week.

I'm going to go right out and nominate it for post of the season, right up with Stevo's (or was it C-diddy's) picture of Dadi taking the penalty.

I'm sure the promotion would get people through the gates but I'd seem very strange to hear the announcement of "Tonight's crowd 35,000" when we'd only be able to see 5,000 of them in the stands.

I wonder how many people can fit into the pavilion?

There should be a poll on stuff.co.nz

"vote: Where do you want the phoenix to play this weekend?"

Then we play there. Will generate interest across the country as people will follow and encourage their friends to vote so they can go see the phoenix.

Allegedly

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

No way are they going to have cheap alcohol promotions! Its marketed as a family club, can see the headlines all over the papers the next morning"Caketin turns into spew bucket" etc. Better off having cheap tickets(maybe $5 with id) most will  turn up drunk anyway after sculling back their cheap booze.  Its a large market you can reach really quickly and one person can end up dragging along a whole group.

I rather like the 'kick the ball win some money or tv promotions' at half time or the 'kids play for 10 minutes in front of the crowd' that use to happen.
