The Nix story so far

Well, I first saw the Nix in 2008
An' went to the Ring of Fire  with a 'few mates
The first game had me hooked on the league and the maniacs

Every game I'd watch them players get by
And sometimes I'd hang my head and cry
'Cause I always wanted them to play well and attack.

One day Ricki devised a plan
That should be the envy of most any man
He signed on two Brits and a young Yellow Fever man
To win the league by playing like fire
And I figured we'd have it all by the end of the games
We'd have ourselves a toilet seat made of gold.

We'll get it one point at a time
And it�s costing me my mind
You'll know the Nix when we come through your town
We�re gonna grind out all our draws
The fans will moan about the scores
That�s the way we do it in Wellington

So the very next season when I joined up
With my family and occasionally friends
I�d leave the ring of fire with a spring in my step
Now, I never considered myself a fan
And buying lots of gear wasn�t the plan

Especially if I wanted some stadium chips.

The first day I got a season pass
And the next day I got me a stripey and a scarf
Then I got me a bandana and all of the gear
The little things I missed out getting made me sad
Like season pins and nix landyards
But the big stuff like the flags and fever tops made me glad.

Now, up to now the team went all right
'Til the start of this season when McKain took flight
And that's when we noticed that something was definitely wrong.

The left back spot was a gaping hole
And Toto turned out to be full of lols
And when Leo kept passing back we knew the spark was gone.

So the lads trained hard like Real Madrid
And slowly with help from Marco and Danny Vukovic
We had that late season surge just like before
Now the centre backs were a sight
We had two on the left and none on the right
But when we put on North and Musa none of them turned up.

The front end looked kinda funny too
But with D-Mac and Greenie together we got thru
Well, that's when we noticed that no one had paid the tax
About that time Gouldie walked out
And I could see the NBR was sowing doubt
And Rodi went to Oz and said  "Marco, play central attack."
