 Here are the numbers,

You do the maths.

  Pl W D L F A GD Pts Sydney FC 13 8 1 4 19 11 8 25 Melbourne Victory 13 7 3 3 22 18 4 24 Gold Coast United 13 6 2 5 19 20 -1 20 Central Coast Mariners 13 4 5 4 13 8 5 17 Perth Glory 13 5 2 6 18 17 1 17 Wellington Phoenix 13 3 7 3 19 14 5 16 Adelaide United 13 4 4 5 12 15 -3 16 North Queensland Fury 13 3 6 4 15 20 -5 15 Brisbane Roar 13 3 4 6 16 21 -5 13 Newcastle Jets 13 3 4 6 12 21 -9 13

P = played | W = wins | D = draws | L = losses | F = goals for | A = goals against | GD = Goal Difference | Pts = points

Facts:

From last equal, to a 6th spot playoff place with this game.

We are currently the 2nd equal highest goal scorers.

3rd tightest defence in goals conceded.

Have drawn the most games.

Lost the equal least games.

Won the equal least games.

Looking foward to the weekend, and we play Perth.

A win sees us bunny hop them to 5th spot.

And above, the top 4 all play eachother;

Melbourne (2nd) play Central Coast (3rd)

Sydney (1st) play Gold Coast (4th).

Which means points will be dropped;

ie only a max of 2 can get 3 pts,

or they could all get 1pt,

or 2 get 1pt and 1 gets 3pts, etc.

So a win next week sees us in 5th pushing hard for higher honours, which when you look at goals is where we need to be. The results, ie 6 draws, have been unlucky.

The win and a decent crowd this weekend is critical for:

The confidence of the All Whites in the Nix

Soccer publicity and positive reporting

A feel good crowd come Nov 14.

So lets all get down there this Sunday.

The importance of beating Perth is that the bottom 4 play each other and if two of them get a result, we are right back in the cellar.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Its a classic quote from The Office.
The original Ricky Gervais one.
Dont worry about it.

Look at this after this weekend's games, there's an international break, and if you get nervous about your national team, this wil help distract you. diego's son2009-11-06 19:04:23
