Hola all!  Well done team on a grand, grand final evening.  Wish I was there miself.  Anyway, Ive been watching a lot of football here in Argentina and the thought has crossed my mind, why are we limiting our search for players in South America to Brazil?  Ive watched a hell of lot of Argentine football in the two weeks here so far and I am asking myself, why are the Phoenix not having a look round for players?  The quality of the play is excellent (they have Requelme at the top of his game for example) and generally considered a lot better than the Brazilian championship (plus results in the Cop Libertadores).  The players are hard as nails (red cards willy nilly) and the football is fantastic (technical, at times outrageous and full of goals).  I suggest that the Argentine Clausura is the next hunting ground for A-League sides and I hope that the Phoenix could be th FIRST side in there.  So Tony P and Ricki, get on that Aeronlias flight to Buens Aires and sign some players, you wont go wrong!!!

Get your camera out JD, and start making some highlights footage to send to Nix HQ (just don't give Trish the camera).

I've always preferred Argentinian football to Brazilian.......and their ladies too!

Maybe you could be the Nix South American agent.....

Good idea, as long as they dont fly with Aerolineas. Worst airline ever.
And Brazilian girls are hotter.

JD, did you go to the Boca-Argentinos Juniors game 7-8 days ago? I didnt see any Retro Rickys other than mine...el grapadura2008-02-26 16:02:22

I think you've really got a future as a club scout there with that brave new thinking.

I argued for the club to bring Boca to the ROF for a friendly before the Bekham game. Perhaps they might invite them later this year. Argentina, Brazil, any teams from there have skilled players and as said, hard as nails, players. Whih could help us play attractive football yet also have a strong defence.

If we got some Argies, would they get on with the Brazilians we already have?

We already have two Portuguese speakers in the team, it makes sense to look in Brazil first rather than chase after Spanish speaking players.

I'd like to see in his passport, would be a hoot if he travelled under the name Tony P.
