Did anyone notice this? Just as Cleberson was walking off the pitch he threw a little hand signal at the crowd..it could of been a wave...or it could have been a Phoenix salute...his thumbs appear to be linked together forming a head/body with his remaining fingers making a phoenix wings ? See photo below

Coincidence or deliberate?...Cool or naff? Looks cool if you ask me and and if Cleberson is doing it it's gotta be cool...this could become the YF salute for acknowledging the team - westside style.

Very cool mate. I reckon it could well be an an ongoing thing for the lads! And as for Cleberson, quite the star of the show. At the Official Launch on Lambton on Friday he Samba danced his way to the stage. A hit with the crowd!

Yeah.  I agree!!  Cleberson is going to become quite a fan favourite, if not already!  He has great charisma and really plays up for the crowd.

I like it too. I reckon it should be adopted for sure - would be great to see the whole crowd doing it.
Can anyone contact someone affiliated with the team and find out if this whole thing has been pre-meditated?

Yeah there's definitely something special about the passion that our Brazilian players bring onto the field (and off in fact).   Definitely leaves no room for apathy for fans or other team members!
Yeah, I think the hand thing is great - slightly Napolean which is always a hit.  I'm up for it.

modify the old 'gypsy curse' given to their keeper on goal kicks...wave the phoenix at him or summat.

Check out these clips off utube that show the Atletico Paranese supporters - Os fanaticos - their Yellow Fever equivalents I reckon - using a similar hand sign as the one Cleberson did. Looks like something else to add into the mix...

Certainly something we can use, I've seen a couple of shots with Clebo doing it and Smeltz did it after his goal.  I think if we pick that up and do it back to them the next game they'll get really into it :)

The hand signal also forms a "w" shape. . . for added symbolism.

Watching the replay the other day, I am sure he was doing it with his palms facing his chest, and wrists crossed. Anybody else notice that?
If the salute is going to be adopted, it might be nice to find out which method the boys prefer (if any).

yeah when smelts scored he did have palms facing chest and wrists crossed,
i reckon this one is better

a few of the boys in my team do it as we saw it awhile back in the premier league

its perfect for the phoenix thou, as it resembles a bird and makes a W with your fingers

Yep you are right Danny Biggie.  I think it symbolises the wings of the Phoenix - rising from the flames

You know, we don't have to choose just one of the salutes.  As the boys showed us on Sunday there are a few ways you can do it depending on the situation.

The perfect salute! Introduced by the players, looks like a Phoenix, forms a 'W'. I've seen footballers and basketballers all over the world do it but it suits no one better than our team. As far as I know, no other team in the A-League has their own salute, apart from the one where you form your thumb and fingers into a circle and quickly jerk it up and down - HA HA!
