It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to the Sub. Due to rust it has become beyond economic repair for it's current owner.

If anyone want a car project email [email protected] before it gets shipped to the wrecker. It is currently in Seaview with a classic car specialist. As he is running out of space, it would need to be taken away by *Thursday*.

Details: 1978 250 Mercedes. Auto.
Failed WoF Oct 2019 due to rust on both front and one rear doors.
Will require a Repair Certificate to get a new WoF (if you are not aware this is a right pain in the butt; this car is not for you!).
It runs!
From the expert: No sign of any doors at any of my usual suppliers, none better than what is on the car. Both need lower three inches done and that work on the pillar extends into the boot somewhat. The repair cert sheet really put a dampener its future. The transmission also slips in reverse even with the fluid topped up and the rust around the sunroof is accelerating even with the sticker holding it together. It's worth saving but might be an exercise. Rough repair estimate, EXCLUDING whatever might be wrong with the gearbox, $3K.

Could be the type of unique thing that Southward Car Museum might look at? Worth asking the question instead of scrapping, I know they turn down a lot of donations though.
