Hearfield goes missing for 90% of the game then pops up with an assist every couple of games when he finally decides to try and take on his man. Much like Smeltz, really. (though Smeltz scores obviously)

Still don't rate him. Just don't like him for whatever illogical reason - he's a younger Kwasnik.

he doesnt go missing, he doesnt get the ball..he is in good positions most the time as well, if the midfield lifted there heads and had a look..better played then Kwasnik also..

Big game for him and the team this weekend, can he produce against a side that isn't Newcastle?

Normo's coming home

He's only here for a wind-up. He's been doing it on other club's forums as well. Best ignored and treated with lack of respect the posts deserve.
I'm not sure how he could have seen any of Troy's games with his head so far up his arse anyway

I thought Troy had a very good game when we last played Sydney in Sydney on 7th Nov......a very good game indeed.....then got dropped due to the arrival of Fred.....

He is inconsistent, like most young players, but he does have a high work rate. Unfortunately, our team has a number of players with a high work rate and not a lot of other attributes.
The thing I'd like to see in Hearfield more is using his pace when he's got half a chance. Too often I've seen him get a sniff of a gap and then turn back. Watch Leo, he uses his pace to advantage.
Still, he has obviously done enough with his many chances to keep impressing Ricky and the Team of the Week, twice I think.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

the midfield dont support the strikers enough..phoenix defend way to deep, which also affects the attack, with a huge hole in the middle of the park between attack and defence..

That's quite true actually.

That's one of the things I notice different to last season, back then we had the likes of Ferrante blasting shots over the crossbar because he was just outside the box backing our strikers up, this year its nothing but opposition players - little wonder our possession stats are so low recently :P

Hearfield has done pretty well, in recent games I've been very impressed with the way he's controlled balls flown towards him from our defense, on a couple of occasions against Queensland his first touch from a long ball got him in behind the defense - if he can turn those into goals we might have a Rukavytsa type striker on our hands.

troy is a player that frustrates me. I never know how to judge him... he so often has good games then he goes through I playing badly phase. Im sure he'll find his feet eventually.

He's still learning - cut him some slack.

Potentially a very handy AM/WM.

Yea I think consistency will come with experience, at the moment he seems to make good things happen when he gets the ball in the right areas and you can't ask much more than that from a youngster

A few games ago Ferrante had about 5-6 shots straight at the keeper from outside the box.

Agree that we have been sitting way too deep as of late, though, and McKain seems to be the only one who knows how to hold the play up and wait for support instead of lumping it forward to Smeltz.

Wouldn't go too far re: Ruka comparison. Hearfield is nowhere near as fast. Remember, Hearfield is also older.

I think he is a lightweight, so get him into the penalty box as much as possible!HarryHotspur2009-01-07 22:50:52

I expect Ruka would win the foot race but..

Ruka   Jun 22, 1987

Hearfield  Oct 31 1987   makes him younger
