Those Two Losses

MV has just won the Premiers plate (is that what winning the league is called).

I'm really gutted that we were so inept in those two 3-nil hidings. Had they not happened, we might have been crowned champions next week. Yes the play-offs are coming up but that's a Cup competition more then the League.

I just hope we win against Sydney... fingers XXXXXed  ;-)

Sorry but there are another 6 losses and you might as well throw in the 4 draws that have has as much affect.End of the day i think we have performed better than most of us expected us to.I for one am happy to be in the finals ride no matter what it may bring.

I'm disappointed with the no show against Bling, but we weren't ever going to win against the tards in the last outing.

If Burns had of got that penalty last weekend, we would have still had a chance .... Tbh I would have been ecstatic if you told me that we would in with a chance for second at the start of the season, so not gonna get all emo about not winning the Premiers Plate.

It was those two gut wrenching 94th minute losses to Adelaide and Roar that annoyed me. But then you could say they were offset by yesterday's last ditch win and the late Hicks free kick to rescue a point against the Jets. Also all the other top teams can point to games they should've won but didn't. The league table is a very accurate reflection of what a tight race its been.

A remote chance.

To adopt an Ernie-ism from last night's game: We went 2-0 down at the break but CCM weren't carving us up, and we in fact were carving them up on occasion in the first half.

Against the Tards we were never in control and certainly not carving them up, but they on the other hand....

Well, we still won't be going home empty handed this season.

Unless an epic brawl breaks out against Sydney and half the team is carded and/or sent off, we should pick up the Fair Play Award for season 2014-15, having received two fewer yellow cards and two fewer red cards than the next best team, Brisbane.

It would also end Brisbane's streak of winning the Fair Play award, having won the previous four seasons in a row (they've won five out of the last six seasons as well)

It may not sound like much, but it would be the first official A-League award that the Phoenix has received apart from two individual honours (Johnny Warren Medal and Golden Boot, both for Shane Smeltz in 2008-09)

We need a pool room for all the firsts/records we've achieved this season.

Big credit to Ernie for imposing some discipline on Muscat, Siggy etc.

But this thread is such a NZ thread - focus relentlessly on the negative, when our team is more than likely to have its best season ever! Why those two games? If I want to torture myself I focus on dropping 3 points to WSW, which still pees me off.

The 2-2 draw against Jets at Hutt park is the game that pees me off

Personally, I blame every single one of the games that we didn't win. How hard is it to just win games of football ffs?

Could we also blame a lack of international windows. 2 games. 2 losses.

I was annoyed that I only got to see about 5 mins of the Nix Legends game before it was "rained off".

Yeah on thinking about it, had Nathan not pulled off one of the worst pens I've seen from us, we'd still be in with that mathematical chance!

Yes. One home game to make the final after that. Massive leg up.
