Today the support of the Phoenix turned the corner and the abuse and throwing of bottles was absolutely unforgivable.

The most unfortunate thing is it was people with YF branding doing some of the misdemeanor's, Don't lower your standards, you have all committed yourselves to support the Nix, do it positively.
My friends and I go to watch and enjoy the atmosphere, today wasnt so enjoyable.
lets hope today isnt the start of the slide

There was also a guy outside shouting at the program seller, who'd done nothing to earn an insult.

By all means make some noise, but don't be stupid ...

Sorry Heyzeus I didnt read down to your entry, I was just so pissed off when I got home I needed to say something. Today I started to see some cracks in the quality of support. footygal2007-10-21 22:32:01

Here here, leave the loutish throwing of bottles (full or empty) to your parties you used to attend before you jumped on the bandwagon!

We all get frustrated at last minute losses but throwing bottles at the opposition players as they leave the pitch is Neanderthal.......

Too many people have given too much to this club and team so far for you to come along and ruin it.....THINK...before you drink before you come to our games!!!!!!

IDIOTS!!!!

I don't mind the abuse its part of the football game - you try and put the players off. You have a bit of a laugh at there expense thats part of football.

But throwing things is just play stupid. No-one wants stewards throughout the fever zone and things like that will just encourage them.

To all fans, the action of some of you (the minority) in throwing bottles is a DISGRACE.

Whilst we are all upset after losing we should not be doing such a thing and I will NOT tolerate such action. Fans caught doing it will be banned. We are not a club that does that and our fans have more common sense than what I saw today. There are families who attend, children etc. It is a stupid act.  So stop it and come and enjoy the game win, draw or lose.

well said Tony P. Can't agree more. They are ruining the reputation of Phoenix and of the beautiful game.

I was there through all the mentallness (is that a word?) and lunacy of the 80's in England.

Fights every week, racial abuse etc. I was there at the Toon when we threw a petrol bomb in the West Ham end (ask Miles Davis if that was any fun, he once told me he was there too).

All this does is escalate. I am not comparing a bottle of Tui to a Molotov cocktail but it cannot be allowed to become acceptable here.

I sing and shout and cheer with me 11 year old lad in aisle 22 and we love it. It is the nearest experience he can get to reliving his younger days a St James. Don't spoil it for us ay?

The players are sacrosanct and no matter what happens they are doing their job of work and that job is to come to over the ditch and kick our arses! It is up to our boys with our VOCAL help to stop them doing it.

The aisle round the tunnel will be closed and we will have stewards up our arses telling us what and when we can sing. We don't want that do we? Look at the rugby, no passion, no atmosphere and more stewards than fans.

I have had a poor weekend with Wgtn loosing the rugby, England loosing the world cup and now the phoenix. I need S*nderland to lose and the Toon to beat Spurs to try and salvage something from the weekend but the only thing I want to do with a bottle of beer is pour it doon me sorry throat, not chuck it at someone who has just helped provide great entertainment.

Been there, seen it, done it and believe me it'll only end in tears

Splashing beer out of (held) bottles is fine, everyone needs a bit of a beer shower despite the waste of alchohol... but throwing at players is just petty.  C'mon guys we've been setting an example to the other A-League clubs in terms of fan noise so far, there's no reason to go and spoil it with foulplay like that.

Red card for whoever threw it.

Maybe what's in the bottles has something to do with it. I'ts easier to be an idiot if you are pissed.

I travelled around grounds  in the 70s and 80s in England, I saw much nastier people, but frankly I never saw such a bunch of pissheads. Over there they would have a few maybe in the pub before the game, possibly a swift one under the stands at half time, and a few after -- but never anywhere did I see  people driking all the way through the game.

I suppose the stadium makes a lot of money out of beer sales.

Presumably, that was because in England there was an opposition fanbase to vent their anger at. Being 2 sheets to the wind would not have helped that much....

Also, when did drinking inside the English stadiums become widespread (officially sanctioned, that is...)?

Its time WE all stood up,this isnt the first time something has been thrown from the zone and frankly im FKD off with it.Im there to support the Phoenix not watch some drunken sh*t throw things. You ALL need to be concerned as it marks ALL of us and frankly that being the case i prefer not to be labeled the same as these goons which means watching from another area and not having fun.

YF members its time you stood up to these FKN clowns if they were near you identify them we dont want these sorts of pricks in the zone.

Well said Ballane, and great to see Tony P coming on here and voicing the clubs morals when it is needed most. I had a good view of the bottle being thrown and was quite disgusted. It reflected badly upon us that's for sure. Althought Petrovski and their goalkeeper were obviously enjoying our anguish at losing, the majority of the Central Coast were genuinely clapping us and congratulating the level of support the phoenix is drawing in. It was them i felt bad for and they did not deserve such disrespect. I hope we don't see this ever again. Whoever is sitting near these idiots needs to voice disapproval at their actions. Did anyone see them? And can they be identified next time? I wish they could be named and banned...

Just to add to that, i am pleased to see the number of people showing their disgust at such actions. Keep it loud, these idiots don't represent us, we are better than that.

To be honest, while I agree totally with the sentiments expressed here, they're not going to reach the ears of those they need to, and even if they did, no amount of disapproval on here or directly at them will make a single bit of difference.

Pissed up young guys equals silly things happening - always has, always will.

Of course its going to make a difference, if someone throws a bottle it is now not going to be accepted.

Imagine being the bottle thrower and 10k fans start pointing right at you and chanting
"Your forever throwing Bottles Out! out! out! "(or something similar) lets identify them and shame them, this could continue as the 'Jobsworths' take the offender under the stand.

How long would you have this problem?

It may not reach them but its up to ALL YELLOW FEVER MEMBERS in the zone to stamp this crap out. These pricks to be told in no uncertain terms to FK off your not wanted in the zone.

That is unless some of you condone this type of supporting. It will make a difference if those around them are prepared to do something about it.Can tell you they want want to be near me if they launch something and i see them.

Maybe when the Beckmaister comes we will have to have one of those long telescopic tunners to get players safely onto and off the pitch. Shame really. aladdinkiwiland2007-10-22 11:55:40

1. Glass bottles should not be on sale at the ground (are they?).

2. Full searches should be made at the gate for glass/metal drinks/containers.

3. More needs to be done than pointing out the offenders and chanting; they need to be arrested, charged, and banned for life.

4. I read somewhere else in the forum that some of the chants have 'rude words' that a 7 year old was not encouraged to sing; well maybe this type of language/behaviour contributes to this current situation?

5. Excessive boozing seems to be the issue, perhaps a closer look at this 'culture' needs to take place. Inevidably, too much booze, chanting crowd, loss of game, group mentality, all contribute in some way to this kind of behaviour.

Act now, not later when it is too late.

1. Yes, only plastic bottles are sold

2. I believe this happens

3. Agree with arrested and charged; banned for life seems a bit OTT

4. Swearing in chants = bottles thrown?  Nah, don't think so - you hear plenty of tasty language from people who'd never dream of throwing a bottle.

5. Alcohol is definitely the problem - it just turns some people into idiots.  Not all, just some.

Banning for life is going to far in my opinion.

I've also read some things in the chants threads and some of the language is appaling and is not going to help the situation.

And booze is a massive problem, people realy need to have a serious think about how much alcohol they consume before and during the match. You can have fun without the stuff.loyalgunner2007-10-22 13:14:43

that's a shocker, I'm surprised you didn't clock him one
what amazed me were the amount of people around us in the fever zone not actually WATCHING any of the game.  too busy drinking and chanting clever things like "gets your tits out for the lads". classy

A definite NO to bottle throwing...whoever did it should be banned from the stadium for a while...

Having said that, id also like to say NO to some of the mariners players getting the crowd worked up as they walked towards it...whatd they expect to happen? Im sure there should be rules against that also..

Just to repeat before you try flame me with it...i do not condone the throwing of bottles either.

Oh and to the idiot who at halftime grabbed me while i was stting...pulled me up...and used me like a bloody puppet trying to get me to dance...f**k YOU ya boozed prick....

Bottlethrowing can result in us having our ground closed or games being played behind closed doors.

I hope someone will apologise to CCM players and management on behalf of the true Phoenix fans.

My daughter and her friends want to go to the Fever zone because of the excitement of the singing etc so I have let her for the last two games but I will have to ban her from there if this is repeated ever again - and that would suck.

Socially positive behaviour please - sing, chant enjoy the game and show respect.

Says it all really, being pissed at games is NOT cool. who'd buy booze at the game anyway? It's so damn expensive! Better going without, you might enjoy the actual game more.

As for having a go at the young kid, how low can you go?? As a QPR fan I dislike Chelsea with a passion but banter with adult chelsea fans is one thing, having a go with a child is the lowest of the low.

Our children today are either the cllubs fans of tomorrow or better still - potential players of tomorrow!
