Average crowd @ RoF say 8,000 (we all hope its more), one-off crowd in ChCh 13,000 (probably more). Difference 5,000.
 
5,000 @ $20 (adults $30, kids $10) per head = $100k

Pre-season matches are $10 per head not $20.

You're right - pre-season cup games tickets are cheaper.

I wondered how long it would take for the "we're the WELLINGTON Phoneix" calls to start coming up.  Yes that's your name, but there is support for your/our team from all over the country. 
 
One game outta 13 in Christchurch will pull more of a crowd than the 7 or 8 thousand you get at the mighty ROF.

I felt that the price spike this season compared to last was unjustified. We came last and needed to attract more people to the games, and to put the price up was ludacris.

This year on the other hand i wouldnt be so suprised if they do or dont.
 
If they do, i understand, teams getting better, quality of football is better, therefore give the price a jolt and see how it goes. Althought economy is on a down and depending on the days of the week the games are, no matter the price people might just give it a flag.
 
I think there needs to be more promotional deals, family, kids, student and what-not, kiwis love the aspect of saving money.
 
But if i had to choose, keep it the same, even with the additional games being played.

 I just want them to make the season ticket buying process much simpler, and much clearer to follow.

 When I purchased my season tickets for the first time this season, I had to wait weeks with no updates, and a few phonecalls to the ticket line, before someone acknowledged where my order for the tickets were.

 The other thing that was annoying, was not having any indication on seating. Not even a "This row is booked out" sort of deal.

 Secondly, the ticket prices weren't the main factor putting people off - the food was expensive and very crap. The parking at the stadium was utter price-gouging, and for those that say "use the trains" not everyone wants to walk the length of the concourse in the wind and rain.

 It's sad, but the combined businesses running the Westpac Trust Stadium are bringing about their own demise putting short-term greed in front of long-term growth.

I find the whole season ticket thing quite bizarre. Dunno how Ticketek seem to make such a huge f**k up of everything. I sent off my Warriors season ticket renewal form in November and my season ticket arrived last week in plenty of time for the season starting. No fuss, no farting about, no "where the f**k is my season ticket" 3 days before the season starts. Mind you, the Warriors handle it themselves!

What I remember from this forum last year this was the biggest gripe - not prices, but the inadequacy/inefficiency/incompetence of the process and the ticketing agency.

Unfortunately, the club is probably at the mercy of the Stadium management for this.

Short of spending a fortune to massively subsidise food parking for us there's not much they can do.
Another expensive option might be building their own stadium (let's resurrect the Porirua alternative to the ROF)

Supporter's buses/trains from the Hutt and Kapiti/Porirua and suburbs might be an option, but there is already a reasonable public transport system, and you'd still have to walk the concourse either way

Not really, we all knew ticketec were sh*t, then in the first season they confirmed it and then last season they surpased themselves. Next season watch for the ultimate classic mother of all f**k-ups where they surpass them selves even more!!

Yep, that's exactly the sh*t that pisses me off more than anything else.  It is riduculous that they can charge such exorbitant prices  just because they have the monopoly.  Surely they need to be taken to the Commerce Commision - Telecom and other companies in industries with no competition do!
 
I heard that because the sevens is on Waitangi day there'll be a 15% surcharge on everything there.  So $6.25 a beer! That's $75 a doz for sh*tty plastic containers filled with warm flat speights (even if it is summit).
 
It's f**ken day light robbery!
 
What is the capacity of the Basin Reserve?  "Basin of fire" doesn't quite have the same ring to it ;) but could we threaten the Stadium we're off if they don't buck up their ideas?
(No lights I know, but if only.  Imagine the embankment in the sun on a hot saturday arvo-early evening!)

Why can't the club do it themselves and allow us to buy our season passes online, or, in person at the phoenix shop. Print them there and then with the bar code already set up like getting your car rego at vtnz .

Problem with the Basin is the telecast stuff would be really difficult and just not suitable for football.
The sad fact is that the Stadium is the only suitable ground at all.

Same goes for the Basin. 

Can't believe we have the best facility in the country (except it should be a rectangle) in the best location but people whine about it.  You should try getting to Mt. Smart of North Harbour for games.

As for the sevens, why not just get your mates together go to the bottleshop and a costume hire place and then pop up to Anderson Park and watch lunchtime touch.  It's pretty much just as credible a sport, at a fraction of the price.

Agreed HN, Despite my complaints about the food, I believe the Westpac stadioum is the best in the country. It's location is perfect.
 
As for any 7's. People only watch them when they are bored. Worst sport ever, next to America's Cup sailing.

Westpac Stadium is great, but clearly the biggest problem is having to hire a stadium with a capacity of 34,000 to hold 10,000.

That said, the Phoenix must now be one of the Stadium's biggest customers with 13 or 14 home games from next season. I hope the club are screwing them down on a good deal.

Can't agree I'm afraid. Where is the home advantage when you start playing games at 'neutral' venues? Stick to Westpac (even if it isn't the best) for the home games in my opinion.
 
As for tickets, is there any reason why we even need to use Ticketek and put up with $3 booking fees? $25 a ticket sure sounds a lot better than the $28 I have been paying all year.
 
All teams in Scotland manage all the tickets themselves and attendances are not much bigger than for the Phoenix (other than Celtic and Rangers), and in some cases lower so I don't see why A-League teams can't do this? No booking fees at the football back home.
