Ticket Prices
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
What's the most you'd pay, on a game by game basis (not season ticket) to watch the beloved Phoenix?

$20?

$30?

$40?

Hurricanes tickets range from $25 - $10 Squillion - but that's just stupid, media hyped, 'pick ball up and run' game not football, chances are there isn't as much support for football and as such football tickets should be cheaper...

Do you think they should go for the mass market and charge $10 (and get 20K people) or charge $30 and get 5K?

Any thoughts on what the ticket price might be?

I've just added a wee poll to canvas ticket price "preparedness to pay".

Children Under 10: Free
Students : $12
Adults : $20

im pretty sure those were the gate sales at the kingz games at ericcson stadium.

There is a significant difference between $20 and $29.99.

I'd be happy at $20, but have a lot of concerns in the late $20's.

$20 for the Kingz may have been reasonable but that was 8 years ago, inflation will have taken its toll by now.

I'll let this poll run for a few days, then I'll do another one, breaking down the most favoured price ranges a bit further.

As an adult i paid $8 and sat on the grass behind the goal for the first Kingz game. $20 to $25 is about what it should be. Doesn`t Wellington have the highest average wage in N.Z.?

Well, at least 20 people would buy tickets. .. . that's a start I suppose . . .. .
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
i would not pay $15+ im a student, i think a good price is $5-10 if its much higher i think it would put people off going to the stadium. Remember you can watch on tv.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I'd pay mid 20's. We'll see what the deals are for a season pass.
I am always of the opinon that it makes more sense to charge a bit less and make it more attractive as an option something to do. There is always so much going on in Wellington.  I'd like to see families able to afford to go too. They need to create a large fan base first, play well and win some games. After a couple of seasons revisit ticket prices.
It doesn't seem realistic to compare a football team in their first season to the Hurricanes. We do have a good football following down here though. Lots to consider!

that is Way to chaep they would make no money unless they got a huge crowd in. Westpac stadium is very expensive.

Those who think Ticket prices will be cheap have another thing coming. I mean your not going to sell them any less than what you pay to see the hurricanes...
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

with a name like wpfc or death i hope ud starve to scrape togeather at least 20$ per game, cmon team wellington was 7$ i think (i had a season ticket) and thats at newtown park which is not on the same planet as the westpac. Maybe 20$ wiv your student pass, and marginally higher for non concessions.

my point is that no one will go aT $15+ maybe the 700 odd on this site that live in welly, ask yourself how many wellingtonians would pay 20 bucks to watch football when only 1000 odd would pay 7 bucks to see team wellington. Maybe "yellow fever" can get cheaper prices for fans but i think that 15 bucks + is just robbery.
say its $20-25 thats more than you pay in greece to see the champions league teams PAO, AEk and OSFP and those football teams are much better than the A-league teams.

but hey maybe the city will prove me wrong and 30,000 people go to the first game at $30 per ticket

cheers hard news,  cant see prices being a great deal less than this (the hurricanes) to be honest, i dont mind payin thirty bucks but i'm quite sure crowds will dwindle especially if performances dont come.

Less than 1000 odd Victorians pay $5 to see a Victorian Premier League game - its got nil to do with the ticket prices.

Telstra Dome is $20 general admission (I'm 90% sure) and I think Olympic Park was $15 for standing. 20 should be the maximum. Can someone tell/show me where General Admission seating in Westpac is though? It could have a better view than behind the goals at the Dome.

I would think the ticket prices should be more in line with what it costs to see the Wellington Lions and the not the Hurricanes. Tickets to see the Lions are a good $10-15 cheaper

not sure about ticket prices in greece but im quite sure that in any other european country tickets are far more expensive than 30$, i support Preston North End (who have just thrown away chance of making playoffs to prem and are in championship) and i know prices there are 20pounds or about sixty dollars for the cheapest, so i afraid you cant compare teams from other countries especially europe. I'm for student concessions and getting a decent crowd but i'm also for not going bankrupt in the first season!

The tickets wll at least 15$ and i can almost guarentee that. Soccer these days isnt what it was in the oldern times, people are in it to make money, im sorry but thats the truth. Sure their are exceptions with all the die hards, but the majority behinds the scenes is all tied up with money.

If you want to make money your going to have to appeal to everyone and i dont think 20$ is asking alot, i mean soccer is THE world sport.

its already costing me a fortune to get to Wellington. Something cheaper than 20 dollars... PLEASE!
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I'll probably only be able to afford to travel to one game, so ticket price doesn't concern me too much as i'll pay whatever (within reason). $15-20 is quite reasonable. Beg Air New Zealand for some discounted rate for an airfare if you have a ticket to the game!

Whatever happens though, the mistakes the Knights made can not be repeated. Not offering different price levels for different parts of the stadium, as well as gouging fans for a sub standard product - barring the last month or so are unforgivable.

CHILDRENS TICKETS -should be no more than $5 with family concessions available.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Paid $25 to watch the Knights

From memory the Kingz was $40 for a family. I think season tickets for the Kingz were $90 and you got a kids one for free. Might have been $110 including our supporters club membership.

Maybe some of the Aucklanders might have a better memory than me but i think those are correct.

Knights tickets to A League games were definiately more expensive than the Kingz.

A dog with a bone :)

I think for season tickets for the Pheonix your looking at a price of 160+.

That could be a bit of a coup if Air New Zeaalnd gave cheap airfares for supporters to get to Wellington since Qantas is one of the big sponsors of the A league!

time to email NZ and Quantas and see who can do the best deal I think.

Does anyone know when the season tickets are coming out? You'd think they'd want them on sale at the same time as the drip-fed announcements of player signings come out.

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Looks pretty settled and that the consensus indicates anywhere between $15 and $30 is the right price for a single ticket to a game.

Maybe we should dump a poll up now to see how much people would be prepared to pay for a season ticket?
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Last season there were earlybird season tickets, so 11 games plus the pre-season games.  Around $220 (correct me if I'm wrong).  Roughly $15 a game.
You could spot the season ticketholder because we all had the A-Leage caps from game one.

Get real man!!  This is good level professional football at a quality stadium.  God I used to pay $7 to go watch Miramar at Centennial Park in the mid 90's in the old national league and it's more than that to watch Team Wellington.

We have to recognise the level of football that we are getting here, would you expect to pay $5-10 to go to the championship/league 1? (not re-starting the old what level is the A-League debate mind)

And watching on TV is no comparison for the real fan is it?

we'll see my friends we'll see, I personnaly think that the first few games should only be $5 for adults 18+ and free for every one else on the theory that people will buy more booze/food at the game. It worked at the cricket world cup when they made it free they made more money. Once the team grows then start charging $15+

well I payed 10 euros to see my team play in Athens and that to me was reasonable, if i could get into gate3/2/5(gate 13)It would have been cheaper.I think 20 quid for a championship team is robbery, i heard the prem is 60 quid, ok thats one of the best leagues in the world filled with stars but 180odd bucks f**k that

Too true JD....

When you think you can pay $25 bucks to watch a movie in an armchair (for God's sake) there is no way that you are going to get away with paying less than that to;

1. Get into a quality stadium
2. See Australasia's best football players
3. Experience 2 to 3 hours (all up, say) awesome atmosphere
4. And support your local team

Fat chance...

I'm expecting $25 for a ticket and around $250 for a season ticket (encompassing 10-13 games)
