This game on Sunday September 27 is now a 4pm kickoff.  Explanation below.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has announced changes to Round 8 of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season draw.

Following discussions regarding Australias biggest air show in Townsville, FFA decided to move North Queensland Furys Saturday match to Sunday to allow fans and their families the ability to catch both of these high-quality events, said Hyundai A-League boss Archie Fraser.

This has facilitated the move of the Gold Coast United v Melbourne Victory game from 5.30pm to 7.30pm allowing fans of both codes access to view both the AFL Grand Final and this top-billing Hyundai A-League match if they wish.

We feel that these changes will benefit all parties involved in the Hyundai A-League, finished Fraser.

Changes have no impact on the National Youth League schedule.

Round 8 - Hyundai A-League

Saturday 26 September  2009

  • Gold Coast United v Melbourne Victory - kick off changes from 5:30pm to 7:30pm AEST
  • North Queensland Fury v Adelaide United fixture moved to Sunday 27th at 5.00pm AEST

Sunday 27 September  2009

  • Wellington Phoenix v Central Coast Mariners - kick off changes from 2:00pm AEST to 1:00pm AEST
  • Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC - kick off changes from 4:00pm AEST to 3:00pm AEST
  • North QLD Fury v Adelaide United - fixture moved from Saturday 26th with kick off at 5:00pm AEST

That's pretty annoying, the ONE time in the season where I could do with it being 5pm, it's changed!! Oh well.

Anyone know why both the phoenix site and the a-league site have it at 1pm NZ time?  Have they both forgotten about those pesky time zones, or is that article above wrong, and it's actually venue time not AEST listed above?

Can Tony P please confirm the start time?? I have air tickets landing at Wellington at 2.05 pm. It is already annoying enough to have one hour taken off my pre match build up, without the next step of totally missing the game.

1pm would mean I missed the game

Assume it's the cruddy a-league sites.

If it's 1pm AEST, then that's 4pm here.

If it's 1pm for us, then that'd be 10am in the morning over there, and I can't see that happening.

I am surprised we haven't received a text from the club to confirm this yet. I'm hoping it is a 3pm NZT kickoff, I finish work at 1:30 and will make a mad dash into town.

I reckon Subria's right, just an error on the websites and that they've put in AEST instead of the local time - all the changes are only an hour (and it was originally 5pm) according to the article:

Round 8 - Hyundai A-League

Saturday 26 September 2009
Gold Coast United v Melbourne Victory - kick off changes from 5:30pm to 7:30pm AEST
North Queensland Fury v Adelaide United fixture moved to Sunday 27th at 5.00pm AEST
Sunday 27 September 2009
Wellington Phoenix v Central Coast Mariners - kick off changes from 2:00pm AEST to 1:00pm AEST
Brisbane Roar v Sydney FC - kick off changes from 4:00pm AEST to 3:00pm AEST
North QLD Fury v Adelaide United - fixture moved from Saturday 26th with kick off at 5:00pm AEST

I've fired off an email to WPFC, though, and I'll let you know wat they say in the unlikely event that one of the people with phoenix contacts don't find out first!

It's definitely 4pm Sunday NZT on Sunday September 27.

Would it be too much to ask that our own website have a list of home games with local start times?  Perth and Adelaide supporters must have the same frustration.  Daylight saving times vary, so not always straightforward to work out from AEST.

Well, that is lame. I only get back on the ferry at 4.20pm which was enough time to get to the 5 kickoff. Too bad I am committed to taking the ferry, now I may be able to catch the 2nd half.

Slightly off-topic (sorry) but noticed in paper yesterday that on the 27th there are no trains coming all the way into Wellington Station (all stopping at earlier stations because of building new track) - have emailed Tranzmetro to remind them there's a Nix game when planning buses but who knows what good that will do  ....

The phrase "Rail Replacement Bus Service" is probably the most scary in the English language.

I'm slightly disappointed!

I too complained to Tranzmetro. I have have just received a response saying that they will restart the train service at 2pm on Sunday so people can get to/from the game!

Fingers crossed!

Well the Phoenix web page still states that the game is a 1 pm. What happens to those people that don't read this forum.

How come they haven't fixed yet. Unless ofcourse it is right and kick off is at 1pm.

Tony P please get this sorted.

So, what time is kick off? (I thought 4pm but the poster on the front page says 3pm). I am coming down from Napier and want to be absolutely sure:

Well, I'm going to work on the basis it's a 3pm kick-off, and get into town early. The posters all say 3pm.

Really need a comment from Tony P.

The Phoenix and A-League websites both have the kick-off against CCM at 3.00pm.

Ticketek have it at 4.00pm

CCM kick off is 4pm.  FFA control that part of our website and can't seem to get it right as we go to Daylight savings next week and we will be 3 hours ahead. Adshels are out at the moment saying 4pm. Will get it changed tomorrow.

Spoke to quite a few people in Wellington today and there was general confusion about when the bloody kick off is.

Hopefully I put a few straight but this aint good for maximising the crowd.

Pretty bad from the FFA. (or is it the clubs fault? - probably should've realised sooner) No matter how many people you tell or how many avenues you try to put it out through, not everyone willl know what the right time to go to the stadium is valeo2009-09-25 22:42:41
