Seven games to go.  Everyone plays everyone.  Who's your top four?

Table   Played Won Tied Lost For Against Goal Difference Points Central Coast Mariners 14 8 3 3 17 9 8 27 Queensland Roar 14 6 5 3 17 13 4 23 Adelaide United 14 4 7 3 20 16 4 19 Newcastle Jets 14 4 7 3 13 13 0 19 Sydney FC 14 4 6 4 13 13 0 18 Melbourne Victory 14 3 7 4 13 16 -3 16 Wellington Phoenix 14 3 4 7 17 25 -8 13 Perth Glory 14 1 7 6 14 19 -5 10

For me, it's CCM, Queensland, Adelaide and Sydney

At the moment, I'd have to agree to you on that - Sydney to replace Newcastle and that's all.

But hopefully we mount a run, starting on Friday. Would throw the cat amongst the pigeons, that's for sure.

I think our 'must win' game was last week against Sydney, so not wanting to be a party pooper but I think that's it from us this year. Otherwise I agree with the above: Newcastle is fading, Sydney is strong. Melbourne may charge late.

Personally I think there is a greater chance of Adelaide fading- a while ago they were my pick for the premiership, but recently (injuries, suspensions, int duty) has lead to a major drop in form. As much as I hate Newcastle I think they have a greater chance of making the four at this stage.

Adelaide are having a lot of problems at the moment. But if I was a Newcastle supporter (ugh, horrible thought) I'd be worried that Griffiths remains pretty much their sole attacking playmaker, and that they are still farting around with Jardel who continues to be very ordinary.

Adelaide have dropped off lately but with Djite coming back possibly later in the season and Burns coming back in next week they should be fine for a top 4 spot. Newcastle will narrowly miss out. If we beat Melbourne this weekend i'd still have hope for us but oh well, sh*t happens.

CCM, Queensland, Adelaide and Jets

i think the jets might just hang in there -they are so cynical and often seem to do what it takes (if bollock puncher gets a lengthy ban for his ongoing fondling antics, they might be screwed)

sydney seem to have lost the new manager effect,
melbourne seem to prefer to play with 10 men

us to finish 6 or 7 (unless we pick up 9 from 9 in this home run)

Queensland and CCM seem pretty comfortable.  Adelaide and Newcastle have very poor form (what a crying shame).  Melbourne have so many reds they'll probably start games with 10 men to save the laundry lady/man washing a shirt that was hardly used.  Sydney - it's the white thing with the net on the back.  Phoenix on the up.

So the top four will be Queensland, CCM, Sydney, Phoenix.  As the first person on the thread to nominate Wellington you will all owe me a sauvignon blanc when we make it.

Hey, if we lift for this week against Adelaide, and then beat Perth at home, that puts us right back into contention.

Of course, it's a bit hard when we've only won three games all year, but it's not out of the realms of possibility.

We have a tough draw coming home, so chances are, we'd know our fate by Round 19.

Also, I can't help but feeling that we blew chances against the Mariners, Sydney FC and Melbourne. If we had:
- drawn with the Mariners
OR
- beaten Sydney FC
OR
- beaten Melbourne

we'd be in a much better situation. As it is, we are six (effectively seven, considering out F/A) points out of the top four.,

fter last night if QLD make it I don't see them going anywhere, there midfield is pretty uninspiring when the young guys are kept quiet.  And with the referees starting to get a bit wiser to collapsible kruse I think they may be exposed a bit going forward

This will surprise a few people, but I think if we can get the link between midfield and strikers working (like dropping Felipe into a Sheringham type role and playing him just behind a front two) and we pick up 3 points this Friday, I think we have an outside chance of hitting 4th.

There, I said it, something positive!

Yes, but you mis-spelt Felipe...

Someone mentioned 28 points would be the cut off, may even be lower after all draws this weekend but that will be pretty tough for the Phoenix to achieve.  Hopefully at least 7 points from the next 3 home games and I'd say about 5 from the last four (beat Sydney at home maybe draws with Jets and Victory away).  Would give us 25 which could be enough if the right results happen (most likely more draws).

Agreed Adelaide look to be on a downward slope, and how the Jets are in 4th I can't understand so depending on their Home/Away split for the last round, we could definitely steal 4th which would be awesome.  Gonna need some quality consistant performances though - here's hoping!

If we beat Adelaide and Perth, we can make it. Anything but at least a draw and a win, and we're gone.
