Chris James is said to be a good team mate. Get him in...
Tim Payne? Thought he was great vs Canada.
Realisation: Part of me is coming around to the concept of an import keeper.

Could be a candidate but I suspect there would be a few.

I'd keep Flappy and he seems keen to stay.
I would as well but I think we need a better keeper than is currently available to us if we are restricted to Australian keepers who don't have A-League gigs (or are overseas) and the top 6(ish) New Zealand keepers all overseas.
Sail did alright. pulled off a couple of good saves. first goal was a mess though. Unlucky the two guys on the posts just missed the ball too.

Also how good is Zubikarai? He has a fantastic club history, never seen him play though

Insanely good goalkeeper but his Achilles heel is mistake making and complacency. It’s what got him released from Real Sociedad. Made a few costly errors in the Eastern Suburbs game, and the last goal that ACFC conceded was from Zubikarai hitting it straight to an unmarked Southern attacker for an open goal finish. Distribution could be better too but his diving and general shot stopping ability is better than any other goalkeeper in New Zealand right now. Age is an issue though, 34 if i remember correctly? Though nobody cared when Sørensen came
Crazy to think that a first choice goalkeeper for a top half La Liga club is playing in the SSP a year later

These two have nothing to do with each other. A good goalkeeper at 34 is getting into his prime. However, being complacent and error-prone is a professional liability at any age, in any profession, unless you are the chairman of SKY TV.... well, or maybe like the chairman of EQC, the gormless Ian Simpson.

I fail to see where he said they were related - just that it was another issue to consider? I also wouldn't call 34 getting into his prime for a goalkeeper. I appreciate they usually develop later, but if anything 34's the tail end of their 'prime' and not every goal keeper is going to function as well at that age.
So how did he end up here... with his pedigree he should be somewhere else.

He did not say that, I agree. I guess my point was that someone who makes mistakes and is complacent is unlikely to improve if he is now 34 so I would prefer to stay clear. However, good goalkeepers who still play at 34, are only limited by their physical ability (Petr Czech comes to mind).

I don't think there's any argument that he is an outstanding keeper

That seems to be some argument.

Interchange as you wish:
Dura Cacace Sail Patterson (not convinced yet) Lowery Smith
Add 3 more Oz/NZ and it does not look too bad if you then strengthen with 3 imports.
Do you think that's a top 4 A-League side?
Do you think that's a top 4 A-League side?
With imports to come in? More that it is not a bad start, are you saying that this years team would not have finished higher up the table if coaching and tactics were in order?
Playing Hudson-Wihongi at right back is, er, interesting.
As Balbi said. TAH is not a right back. Also Howeison got dragged to Auckland by his Mrs who's barely spent a day in Wellington in her life. That's too Kosta for my liking so scratch him of any list.
Of the Kiwis that the next club will want to look at, Payne, Howieson, De Jong, McCowatt, TAHW, Gulley would be the top 6 from the ISPS. How do they stack up against McGarry, Rogerson Patterson, Rufer, Ridenton is the question?
I can see Rufer getting released if for no other reason that he has hardly had a chance to show what he can do. I'm not a Ridenton fan but respect he has started the whole year and while I would prefer Rufer (different players different positions), Ridenton gets it. When you look at the MVP for ISPS, Rogerson and McGarry did not figure and they would have played almost the entire season. I would consider them prime to be released. The boy McCowatt is a swap and Payne fills more of a void than McGarry does. Patterson... meh. Gulley should be a lock for a spot. De Jong should get a trial as should TAHW and Howieson but I would be signing 3 of those 6 and casting McGarry, Rufer and Rogerson adrift.
Ridenton/Rufer is interesting to me; I think that with Rufer's limited opportunities he has shown a bit, and would benefit from having the same amount of game-time that Ridenton has had. I don't think Ridenton is anything special, but he's slowly grown into a solid A-League midfielder.
Rufer's Handy Prem displays have not been inspiring this season as opposed to Ridenton last season who completely ran a few games when he was dropped down.
Rogerson has looked better as the season has gone in the Handy Prem and his attitude seems to have changed a bit.
tend to think the same about rufer showing some potential..even aussie commentators talked him up a little...probably worth a one year extension
I think they might be a little mesmerised by the pedigree
I think a number of those who keep calling for him to be kept on are, I also think NZ Football are because I am completely baffled how he keeps getting AWs call-ups.
McGarry didn't make the squad last week, despite all the absentees, I think we can assume he is out of here.
Rogerson and Rufer are still yound enough to invest in as NZ players.
McGarry was supposed to be on the bench, but Krishna was a late inclusion.
