With the Nix looking at bringing in a player are there a couple happy to leave.
Ferrante and Mulligan especially have sat idle for a large part of two years, they must be getting desperate to play somewhere. Mulligan is probaly on reasonably good coin having come from the Championship to, so he'd free up some funds.
Crowther might be looking to move, surely can't be happy about Reddy coming in and walking straight into a starting spot.

Ferrante was absent from the two trainings I went too last week... Might have just been in Aus with family for Xmas.

I think you've got to remember that every team has a handful of players who play bugger all during a season. For example, both melbourne and sydney have 3 players who have played zero minutes this year.
In saying that, I would expect someone like Mulligan to take a hefty pay cut when his contract is up for negotiation.

Well you would think that players take the innotitive and look else where. I mean I wish the best for Mulligan but with 7 games left before finals week I just can't see him getting a start.

I've wanted Mulligan to be given a shot, but surely he can't be re-signed as a utility. We need to sign new players to come into our lineup so that it is competitive all over the pitch. I think the Mariners have done a good job with this.
Ferrante should be gone to wherever, and we should replace them both with one true number 10 playmaker

Chen should never have been let go, think we'll really regret that one.

Whats the point in releasing anyone yet when we still have to pay them?

If they're released to go to another A-League team, doesn't the new club pick up the wages?
I'm sure we'd have taken over Reddy's pay for the remainder of this season.

Reddy will have come to a deal with the Roar over his outstanding wages. Maybe because he asked to be released he flagged them away.
No Phoenix players that we know of have asked to leave so they would be in their rights to ask to be paid in full if the club make the decision to let them go.

Yeah, but how many A-League clubs are going to use an import spot on Mulligan ? Or even want Ferrante ? Can't see it. I'd just leave them here then release them end of season.

I assume both contracts end this season. Someone's might want Mulligan as he's a local and the A-League's expanding next season.
As Mulligan's staying around to train for the WC, I guess his AWs contract would kick in to take him through to the end of the tournament.

Theyd rather just sit and take their paycheque to be honest. Especially mulligan who is reportedly on quite a bit,he'd rather continue to be on that amount for the rest of the season, then try his luck in the offseason with another club.
Allegedly

Why should they?
As long as we make finals he's done his job of what was expected. With the team we have finals should be minimum expectation. He's a quality coach. I bet he won't be doing dual role next year, come world cup finishing I think he will leave the AW's

I hope he keeps up the dual role.
Back to player discussion. No point getting rid of players for no reason. But if some European team wants to come offer us big money for Mulligan that'd be great. How can we advertise him to the World i wonder. 'Well rested All White'?

Someone make a brochure for him - it worked for Michael Owen.Arsenal2010-01-03 17:53:55

We need to all start talking how awesome he is on the forum - edit all previous posts about him sucking, refer to him only by the name 'God', make some dishonest edits to wikipedia, then we might be able to trick some sucker club into purchasing him.

David "Dave" Mulligan (born 24 March 1982) is a New Zealand football (soccer) player who plays in the Australian A-League for the Wellington Phoenix FC and is a New Zealand international. He made over 180 appearances in the English Football League between 2000 and 2008. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever to play in England, if not the world.
I've also added him to Sc**thorpe United's notible former players so people can see how prestigious he is.

1. Mully is only local for the Feenix. For the other teams he's a Kiwi and so would fill a foreign slot.
2. AWs contracts don't pay salaries - they pay lump sums after the tournament.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I really want to see Mulligan play once more in whatever his preffered position is. Surely he could surprise us if he has one last shot? ..Ferrante on the other hand is poop, had plenty of chances last season and at the beginning, never saw anything in the guy and is clearly out of his depth.

I reckon there is a good chance that Ferrante will head to the new Melbin team

They've made some good signings so far in Heffernan and Thompson.Kind of going in the opposite direction if they get Ferrante.

If Heffernan is as high as they set their sights they will slot Ferrante in to the first team.

Aren't they after Viduka? has their been anymore word on that?

Thanks for this GG.
As a side topic I hear on the broadcasts of Glory home games a lot of "La la la Glory(?)" chanting. Is this directly taken from the Toon Army chant (La la la Geordies) and does Perth have a bunch of ex-pat Geordies in its midst?
"Phoenix till they lose"
