I was the guy in the red t-shirt for you guys that were there tonight.

What a disgrace in terms of the security + police. One rule for locals yet another for visitors. We were not allowed to stand nor alllowed to show the YF banner. Hope someone kicks up a fuss about this as it ruined the game for all of us right from the start (we were getting harassed by the old bill when QLd scored their first goal). Was my first nix game and just pissed me off about the double standards. I hope that the authorities give the roar supporters grief if they show up in Wellington, they gave us absolute grief here in Brisvegas. Im so angry that ive joined the forum.

Thought I saw about 5 or 6 police coming down to you guys at one stage last night.

You should note though, as your were in QLD it was the QLD police you had to deal with - say no more.

What were they saying to you after Roar scored?.

Can't believe they wouldn't let you stand - it's not as if there was anyone behind you who's view you would block.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

same as what we experienced in Sydney - one rule for us and another for the home team

Plodder please don't let this get to you - PHOENIX supporters are way above this sort of 'behaviour'. The rest of the NZ sporting fraternity are looking at us right now with the possible incorrect assumption that we football supporters behave like some [a minority few] of the riff raff hooligans in other parts of the world.
Our home record [approx 40k + fans from 4 games] so far with absolutely NO trouble at all speaks volumes for both the code & the way in which we support sport in this country. If other authorities wish to overreact for whatever reason, then so be it. We, the PHOENIX are way above this, and will lead with the best result possible, with wins at both our home & away games - it will come, patience is required.

Hi Sas, if this is correct, then it shows that Phoenix supporters are not only unbiased, but they are clever too!

I was at the game, and I have to advise Phoenix fans DO NOT TRAVEL TO BRISBANE COS THE COPS ARE W**KERS.

They were constantly hassling us Feverites for no reason at all.
First there was one of our lads who was quite cut, but wasn't causing any harm. They gave him a load of grief over nothing.
Then they made us take the YF banners off the fence.
So we put them over the seats behind us, which nobody was sitting in.
Then they said, no, you can't put them on the seats.
So we held them up.
We chanted 'Same old aussies, always cheating' at them.
I would've loved to have said 'Who Are Ya' or
'You don't know what you're doing' but those cops have guns and I didn't want to be chucked out!

Then they told us to sit down, cos we were blocking people behind us. Bulls**t, there was nobody behind us. So we told them they should try talking to the hundreds of Roar fans who were standing instead of the dozen of us.

Obviously they had nothing better to do than hassle us.  It spoiled our game.

I'd like to know whether it was just cos we were Kiwis, or do all away supporters at Brisbane get this kind of treatment?

I'd like to say something about this on the roar forum but I'm still waiting for membership approval.

Plodder, I wouldn't want our authorities to hassle Queensland fans when they visit.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
And it wasn't the Roar fans - they were a great bunch.

Besides that's not gonna happen cos NZ cops have standards and don't make up the rules as they go along!

i think we could hear you guys on the tv broadcast - at first I thought the Roar fans had the same chants as us, but I'm sure I heard 'same old aussies ....always cheating' - which was unlikely to be sung by Aussies (and it's reasonably brave to sing that in Australia I would think), then later I'm sure I heard 'Wellington is wonderful'.

They certainly didn't try to get the Sydney away support to sit down on 22/09.

You were there were you? Coz I got told by some Sydney guys there that security made them move out of their seats.

And guys....rules with most A-League clubs these days are they need pre approval you get them into security before the game and they generally let you do what they want with them. If you rocked up just expecting to get them in, thats probably the where the trouble began. Even the Adelaide and Sydney guys could figure that one out.

Nice to meet you too Bevan. We had fun at Kittys pre match. Not much we fans can do about security, we have our own trouble with them, but we've still got the best stadium in the a-league by a mile.

yeah saw that on tv.
Pretty sad, really.
I guess it's the same all over the world, and someone who carries a gun in order to feel like a man, probably is not the best person to make judgments (i.e. whether or not the Nix fans could stand up or not etc)..

The only consolation is that all over the world if the cops misbehave, which the do too (as well as we fans do sometimes), the crowd goes nuts at them. I know that's not the proper way, but sometimes the crowds rebel against behaviours like that, and that's good!

I haven't seen any police in the YF zone - it only seems to be stewards - there seems to be very low profile policing at the Ring of Fire

This is sh*t when it happens to any away fans let alone fans travling frm another country to watch and support thhere team. FFA/A-League needs to wake up with issues like this and act on it. Currently at the Telstra Dome where Melbourne fans are fighting for current restriction to be lifted or relaxed because theyre absolute bullsh*t atm. Hope this doesnt continue.

noticed towards the end of the match some rather plump boys in blue in your midst - a good chorus of 'who ate all the pies' might have broken the tension (and got you a free overnight stay in central Brisbane)

Having just watched the Sydney game, where fans werre standing on the seats th entire game and then when the goal came, watching fans jumping around and spilling onto the field at their end, yet what did you see done about it? How many Police or stewards showed up? does "Zero"  mean anything. same Old Aussie Police, always cheating!

Well , I was at the game for 20 minutes before I dissappeared to go an be sick in the toilets, apparently i threw up all over the place, and then I got arrested for being drunk in a public place, and taken to the Police Watchouse, woke up next day at 9am lol ... my girlfriend was telling me that I was  tapping a policeman on the shoulder and asked why I couldn't stand near my fellow YF'ites and I was told that I should have been decked for touching the cop!!  Admittedly I was drunk but I was told I wasn't creating any havoc ... I cant even remember anything past my 4th jug at the Irish bar in Caxton St ... but yea stories have come out about the cops treatment of us ... Hopefully I might go down to the Newcastle game

Trust me they are there! I bet they're on here and bet ya they wear retro ricki's to the game. If theres no violensce then we will go all season but I'm telling you they're there.

I find the security worse down here at Lancaster then the 50. Least the police no your there to have a good time but those power hungry "RED BADGE" argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For instance you go to the cricket for a relaxed carnival atmosphere to have a few laughs and a few beverages all of a sudden there goes a "beach ball" If its just floating around harmlessly not hurting anyong, then the 50 will just watch it and even hit it back if it goes a stray, but NO not those angry short person syndromed Seceraty people that have to chase it and pop it then threaten to kick out the last person for hitting it! Good one RED BADGE your a bunch of **** who ruin most FUN sporting events. I mean sure if someones out of line then yeah get rid of them but who really is these days.

gees that turned into a rant sorry

If that's true then that's great.
That's the right way to police a game.

It's unconfrontational and they're in a much better position to spot anyone that really is out to cause trouble than if they were just standing up the front.
Hopefully they'll even join in the chants :)

We could "Out" them with a chant - "You're a copper and you know it" and judge by their reaction!

I wasn't trying to be anti-police. I've got no problems with the NZ police, they do a good job.
Whatever presence they have at the Ring of Fire is doing fine, so keep it up.

I laid an official complaint with the Queensland Police about it
(honestly, I was just passing the station at the time, I didn't go out of my way)

Will put up the details of that next week when I get back.
