Herbert is to trial Korean right back Ki Hyung Lee and Australian
midfielder Tas Psonis against the U20's on Sunday, surely
this means that we haven't secured the two Brazilians George
and Cleberson yet.
Do you know anything about these guys? Lunatic,
Benjamin......

ifwe get the two Brazilians we still have one free import slot

There is a little bit about the Korean guy on Wikipedia, not much
though...

note Australians don't count as imports...and with the two brazilians that would be all four of our import spots used up...Daniel, Campos, Cleberson, George.

^^exactly, this Korean guy if signed will take the spot of either
Cleberson or George, the limit is 4 imports gings.

if that korean guy signs where will Jeremy Chjristie play?

The Korean Guy previously played at Korean League side FC Seoul
Lee Ki-Hyung (이기형) (born September 28, 1974) is a football player from South Korea who plays as a Defender.
Lee frequently represented South Korea between 1995 and 2004 without ever appearing at a major tournament. He has also played for the Korean Youth team.
Lee has spent most of his club career playing for Suwon and Seongnam, the two powerhouses of South Korean football.

I like the speed and the fitness of asians players but not many ave
great technical and passing skills...Also I think asian defenders
are to small for the A-league they would get overpowered
easily.

Yeah because Hyuk-Su Seo has been consistently destroyed when he's played fullback

I like Hyuk-Su Seo he got a big boot on him...to bad he doesn't
shoot for goal more often.

my bad guys, i forgot Cleberson...dont quite know how i managed
that

Don't know lads. Seems to be a long delay on both
though. Last thing I heard the contracts had arrived in
Brasil for George and he was set to sign. Maybe the lad
turned them down, or got a better offer from elsewhere, maybe the
club got cold feet. I'm a bit worried this one might not come
off, because he's the kind of player who will make a difference
from what my friends are saying.
Lunatic reckons Cleberson has signed subject to work permit
and medical.
Korean right back seems a strange call if Riki has been
looking at central players like George and Cleberson, although
there's clearly a whole in the squad at right back.

Its obviously not a good sign in regards to the brazilains coming to the nix when we are trialing a Korean
But apparently "serious talks" are being held between the club and the brazilians, check todays nzherald article its very good http://www.nzherald.co.nz/category/story.cfm?c_id=86&objectid=10446155&pnum=2

Sign the Korean, we need to add some more ethnicity to our squad.
Asains are quick and scary too...not bad at football
either.

It would be good to see the Phoenix get their remaining trials
completed and last few players signed as soon as possible. They
need to have plenty of time together as a squad so they can get
used each others games, and give the team a chance to settle into a
pattern. Im sure Ricki has it under control though.

The Korean guy has represented South Korea and apparently looked
the goods so why not sign him..an import spot well used i say.

I agree xcellent, he had good control and pace and is a
natural wide player which we are lacking a little.....
Would be a lot more comfortable with him than Jeremy Christie
at RB!!! Sign the korean Ricki!
Great then I'm sure Pavos8 will be able to bring a Korean flag to
support him.

The trouble is that we've got a problem, unless Felipe fails to get a work permit.
By all accounts we deperately need a centre back, a right back and a goal-scorer yet we've only got two import spaces left and we appear to be running out of local options here or in Aus. Midfielders worth a crack at this level exist here and in Aus, but quality in these other spots is all tied up.
If we sign the Korean where do we get an experienced CB (and we've ruled out Bunce) or goal scorer from ?
...and before we get back on the Tambouras line... (and I like the way he plays) no other A-league side has ever approached him. There could be a lesson in that.

It is interesting that people at the same game can see such
different things in a player. Personally I don't think this
guy inspired much confidence. I noticed a few bad passess (mind
you, who didn't cough up a few yesterday?) and he was well beaten
on two occaisions bythe U20 left mid.
Fortunately he did show the tanacity to run hard and win the
ball back after a shocker pass, so at least we know he isn't a
quitter! I'd like to see this guy again on Friday night so I can
watch him more closely. I'm keen to see if I agree with the
majority comments here. I suggest everyone scrutinise this chap's
play, should he be present on Friday. 'twould be well worth the
effort I am sure.

Players on trial are often hard to judge. I remember when
Sunderland had Stig Inge Bjornebye on trial I saw him play for the
reserves and was keen for us to sign him due to his hard running,
good left foot and strength - specifically because he was involved
in 3 of our 6 goals when moving forward...
It wasn't until I was discussing it over a few drinks after
the match and my friend reminded me of the score that I realised
the error in my judgement... Yes, we scored 6, but we also
conceded 5! Stig was playing as a defender, so his defensive
abilities must have been dubious.
That said, he signed for Liverpool the next month
and stayed at Anfield for about 7 or 8 years.

You must remember he had no left midfielder playing in front
of him. I thought he did ok. He was good going forward but I'd like
another look at him defending.
A dog with a bone :)
