Rallis on SST tonight said Kalezic was NZ to check out the Phoenix players playing for the All Whites in a competitive game. Ofc this is obviously wrong because we are playing in Northern Ireland but it would make sense for him to be in Northern Ireland to see them play, so guessing it probably won't be this week he is unveiled.

I like a coach that nails his colours to the mast early in the season.
I heard today that Kalezic and Vidosic is actually happening!! I'd love to know where that leaves Buckingham and Greenacre. Greenacre is very engrained in the club, wife also has a job at the club.
It'd be interesting to know too if the new gaffer has some reasonable coin to spend on some good new signings.
Time for Greenacre to leave the nest and go and prove himself somewhere else. He should try and get a gig as head coach at NZ premier level. See if he has got what it takes to be a head coach. He has had his chance" at the Nix.....and the results have been mixed. It is time for a clean out....we have allowed mediocrity to become the norm at this club.
I hope the new coaches put a bomb under the club and players. I am sick of the lame " hope we make the top six"" attitude. I hope these new guys come with a strong sense of the tactics and style of football they want to play to be succesful. If some of the players don't like it.....tough. Find players who will bust their arse every game. My support for this club is wavering. I will support them 100% if they put in the effort in every week...despite the results. But I'm not interested if they just continue not to turn up.
I agree. As a guy Greenacre seems smart and a good fella but he does have to bear some part of where we are today. Would Buckingham want to go back to being the goalkeeping coach?
If you're the new head coach do you want the unsuccessful applicant for the head coach job as your keeper coach? I doubt it.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Happens all the time in the workforce so why would it not work in sports?
I don't believe that's correct. It's relatively common for a change in CEO to herald a change in leadership team composition/membership. It's also relatively common for unsuccessful applicants for corporate leadership roles to depart having been unsuccessful.
Perhaps you're equating the Head Coach role to some sort of middle-management position, where a bunch of applicants might apply including some who report to that position, and they may stay despite being unsuccessful. But I don't think this situation is analogous to that.
This is the key leadership role in the organisation. The top dog. And my view is as above. A vanquished top dog won't be welcome, and won't want, to hang around to be the top dog's seventh assistant.
If Ramon is definetly out of the picture, I'd be open to him taking the AW reins after what's been served up at AW and U20 levels under Hudson. It could be a refreshing change, maybe the "God Father" could be involved too.
Thats just swapping one anti Nix manager for another. AW's recruitment be like:
NZF: "Do you dislike the Nix?"
RT: "Yes"
NZF: "Welcome Aboard"
'I hire the Nix haters...welcome aboard!'

Brian Kidd in a similar situation at Manchester City, is one I can think of. Ryan Giggs too recently.
31st May 17:45. End of the month and no official announcement. Oh dear.
wasn't it early June they were making the announcement? I recall first week of June being mentioned. 31st May was when they were hoping to have the coach signed by - which they have done.
End of May, I thought.
I’ve previously and publicly expressed our commitment to a 31 May deadline for finalising the head coach appointment, and after six weeks of winnowing out applications, conducting interviews across three continents (and numerous timezones!), I can happily report that we have met this commitment ahead of schedule.
We have a signed contract with our preferred candidate and pending flights and immigration we look forward to presenting our new head coach in Wellington, early June.
I suspect that with a team of large wild cats here to run around on many rugby fields across the country that finding the ideal window of opportunity to announce this in the media may prove difficult.

And that other guy who drives really fast gets held up at fast food outlets.
This new manager thing just gets stranger.
I just hope he doesn't manage the announcement of his new signings like Wellnix have managed his signing.
If it is true he applied six months ago, then that also is a joke.
Maybe he's coaching a team and the Under 20 WC and they are waiting till his team gets eliminated
if that is the case then all is forgiven
Unless it is the Former knights player we are signing

Danny Hay?

It's not getting stranger it's the same level of strangeness (which isn't strange at all). It's been less than two weeks since they announced the coach, the only reason they announced the new coach at all was people were complaining.
They really can't win.
I think they want to hold off so that they can present the new coaching team at a press conference and make a bit of a buzz, that's how they announced Ernie after all. Also, can you blame them for not announcing something until everything is completely signed off after the whole Alex Jones affair?

Come On Phoenix
The Wellington Phoenix will unveil their new head coach next week, with Darije Kalezic the name on everyone's lips.
Phoenix general manager David Dome indicated last month that the new coach would arrive and be presented to fans and media in early June.
It is understood a press conference will take place in the middle of next week.

Not impressed with the 34% win rate.

Maybe our foreign manager has been denied a visa...?
if that is the case then all is forgiven

I remembeing being pumped when we signed the Asian Ronaldo LeiLei Gao.
He's probably just lining up a new left back to announce with his coaching announcement.
With Kosta leaving, now would be a really good time to announce the new coach before we fall even more behind with transfers

Why, we have all off season.
Kosta was probably on a big chunk of the cap, and didn't exactly set the world alight while here. I don't like the precedent we have set of just letting guys go, but if he didn't want to stick around and try to turn things around with the new manager then I don't think he's a massive loss, given the cost presumably associated with keeping him (and assuming we haven't paid out his contract).
Matt Buck was interviewing Domey this morning and every answer to a player signing question was 'Well we are hoping to announce this soon.' Does sound like they've got someone lined up to replace Mossy though.

Kosta was a marquee so his salary was outside the cap.
He also was the one that asked to leave so won't be getting paid out
Hopefully the owners splash out for another marquee, perhaps using one of our foreign spots.

What, to lose a few more players due to personal reasons?
