yes, they really have lifted the bar - and tv 1 seem to be sitting there too scared to try to jump over that bar

excellent piece, good interview snippets (Jamie Farrington, seemed a bit 'underdone' in his praise of Stu J  - ?)

a bit of YF on display -thankfully fully clad

That was a magnificent performance tonight from TV3 - "The Home of Football"!

Rumour has it, NZ Football already looking for spare office space in the CBD

Keep it up please.

That clip needs to go on YF TV.

TVNZ seem to have it in for anyone outside the Bombays in regards to sport lately. The only Phoenix things they've given more than 5 seconds to, have been negative things.

I noted tonight they mentioned in less than 3 seconds that Wellington were buying 70 brand new train cars. Yet they then gave 3 minutes+ to the ellerslie Flower show which isn't even in ellerslie anymore. Go figure??

The Phoenix might not just be the rebirth of NZ football , they might also be the rebirth of Wellington

I said to someone yesterday that there's no way i'd shift out of Wellington now, the place has always been good in my view - now it's unbelievable and unleavable!

ah, so that accounts for that gargling noise 1/2 way through each chant

Very true, it was one of the main factors I chose Wellington to move back to after time overseas, the phoenix have brought life previously unseen sportwise or culturewise in wellY!!!

Its great.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Wellington was already the greatest city in the southern hemisphere before the Phoenix arrived, and now it's even better (excluding weather!)

Friendlier than Auckland, more happening than Christchurch, don't need a car to live here, best bars in the country, the list goes on ...

DAMMIT, I *knew* we forgot something!

Agree with you on Wellington being unleaveable - I recently sat down to consider my future, and moving to Auckland was the best move, both for sport (where I'd have to go to develop my lacrosse career and maybe make the national team one day)  and uni (going back to sports science, my original academic background). Then I realised that would involve spending less time in Aisle 21 and threw my Auckland Uni application in the recycling

Apart from our notable lack of an A-league franchise, Christchurch is a far better city than Wellington.

By the way, anyone know the attendance of the Team Wellington match?

Officially 600, believed to be closer to 1000.

...and as for your other point ?  Good luck with that.

How's my driving? - Whine here

That reminds me of a chant someone started one on the bus back from the TW match...something along the lines of "F-K OFF CHRISTCHURCH"

I'd love to see Christchurch get an A-League franchise, but until that day, on the day, and after that day, Wellington is and always will be Wonderful.

TV3 is good and more than willing to be involved with football.
TVNZ just seem to have no idea, or really not care.
The Aussie press SLATES the Phoenix every chance it gets, we have one network on our side so we are not doing too bad for our first year.
Top four would cement us as a sporting force that will warrant more than a passing win/loss mention before the weather.

In case anyone missed the great "60 Mins" story on "Saint Terry" the other night, check it out.

I think the man's a gem, and coming from a Jafa that's a really big compliment (tho I was born in Miramar so maybe those Wgton genes are hard to shake!).

What about Buenos Aires and Rio? Slightly more violent, but the women, oh my god, the women...Stunning.

South America. Where even ugly chicks are hot.

Slightly more violent?

Never been to South America, so I can't really comment.
The women in Wellington are the hottest in NZ though ...

Greatest city in Australasia, at least!

Admitedly I may have under-stated the level of violence and crime in these cities somewhat (especially Rio). But the women...OK, I'm repeating myself now.
