So, after a good gritty performance on Sat against Bling, which players would you drop to let the AWs back into the starting lineup?
Its gonna be a toughee

i'd say Keep the formation the way it was, it is a very good formation to use but only when u have gritty midfielders who are willing to track back

i Say go with

                                                    Moss
Rees                              Dodd                        Lochhead(restricts his runs a bit)
Elrich                  Aloisi              Johnson               Brown                  Daniel
                                     Felipe                      Smeltz

Subs - Covs, Lia, Christie/Ferrante, Paston

the 3 centre mids woul have to be largely defensive altho give 1 of them more aof an attacking license when were on possesion. prolly brown or aloisi

also option to drop Felipe back for 1 of Johnson or Aloisi (Injuries perhaps) and start covs if u want really big attack, but might be enough to let out Covs pace on tired defenders late in the game

Muso, I like that XI.  If we want a 442 then plodder in for Johnson.  Either way, the best lineup fielded this year.

cheers dude, i also like the way Felipe plays in the "striker" position he was in last night. A lot of the time the way i saw it he tended to drift a lot between attacking mid and striker, and generally showed up to take a pass where someone was required. Generally though 5 midfields works well, we had a really strong looking midfield, and when we got our passing going last night we had some really nice rythm and flow to our play, a few moves With interchange between felipe ferrante and aloisi come to mind

Same as muso but with Ferrante instead of Dicky Johnson. Although he can't shoot to save himself, he seems to unleash Felipe, Daniel etc. We also don't need 3 DM's.

Good selection Richard Johnson makes a good defensive midfielder anyway so he would be at home there. And good to see  you choose 2 up front.

hmm yeah it is a hard choice with ferrante, but i think starting johnson is good for solidifying up the middle of the park, hes probably the one with the most tendancy to hang back in the most DM kinda role on attack, whereas brown and aloisi like to get forward on attack, so its hardly playing 3 DMs, ferrante cancome on for whichever out of aloisi and johnson is looking most tired in the 2nd half

I liked 3-5-2 the other night, i thought we looked to have plenty of space, but because Felipe tends to play all over the show, it does end up somewhat of a 3-5-1-1.

I thought there was little point bringing Costa on when Jacobs did and thought we should have bought O'Dor on and switched back to 4-5-1 as at that stage 3-5-2 was getting over run a bit...

Solid except I'd swap sides with Felipe and Smeltz - on Saturday once again Daniel and Felipe worked really well together so it'd be a shame to banish them to opposite sides of the field.

Some of these formations are a bit too attacking for an away game against the defending champions in desperate need of points. I'd have:

               Moss

Christie     Dodd     Rees     Lochead

               Johnson

Ferrante     Aloisi   Brown    Daniel

               Smeltz

Subs: Paston, Lia, Felipe, O'Dor.

Man, its going to be interesting to see what formation and players get the nod this week.

I'd be quite worried about the above formation as Elrich and Daniel as wingbacks scares me a little. Both arent't the best at tracking back, and if we play them there they won't get forward as much which is where the are most dangerous.

If we play Wingbacks I think Ferrante and Locchead would be the obvious choices. Ferrante works his ass off and got up and down the line all day against Sydney.

Not sure ricki will play 3 at the back away form home to be honest.

Ferrante's work rate is huge and would get up and down better than Plodds. We can't have elrich in that spot because he doesn't track back. His pace up front would be a handful especially with Felipe feeding him through.

Daniel at LM because he links up well with Lochead and we need a natural left footer, but he would have to work. Possible swap him for Lia, Not because i think he hasn't done well, but beccause with this formation, arguebly he's the weak point.

                                  Moss

Christie          Rees            Dodd            Locheed

                  Brown                    Aloisi

Elrich                        Felipe                    Daniel

Think we've got to go with a back 4 away from home, and keep 2 strikers - Felipe played well on Saturday when he was further up the pitch.

Despite Lia's awful pass he's still a good option - I'd try him at right back and go with;

                                              Moss

Lia                  Dodd                                    Rees         Lochead

                                  Brown                  Aloisi
Elrich                                                                                          Daniel

                            Smeltz                        Felipe

Subs; Ferrante, Coveny, O'Dor

Difficult picking a team for this game. RH would have done his homework and will do so again for this game. The 3 at the back worked well becasue Sydney play really narrow with all that intricate play of Bridges/Juninho/Brosque and Corica in and around the penalty box.

I think RH will revert back to 4-4-2, with the team that aitken mike has posted, although Ferrante can find himself unlucky to be left out.

Don't mock others about having no clue. Anybody that thinks Tim Brown does nothing knows absolutely nothing about football.

He's not overly creative, but thats because he's a defensively minded midfielder. He works his ass off and makes a butload of tackles.

And as HN said, the Jets did want to re-sign him. Sort your facts out.
