I think it was Ufuk Talay anyway.  But when he passed the ball through to McBreen instead of kicking it to Paston I was not happy.  If they'd scored off that I would've started a one-man riot.  Greatest display of poor sportsmanship since Craig Bellamy equalized against the All Whites.

I know it's an unwritten rule and all, but wow.  Good on the Phoenix players for really having a go at them about it.

Yeah, probably covered in the match thread but that's over 40pages long and I can't be bothered checking it.

he was under no obligation to kick the ball through to Pasty, as they had possession when the game was stopped.  We should have a) made sure that we kicked the ball to their keeper when the ball was dropped and b) been switched on when the ball was dropped and therefore live.

Bit of a c**tish thing for them to do, but we really didn't help ourselves.

Talay was a dick. he was lucky that his coach took him off straight away cause I thought Brownie or Siggie were gonna go through him at some stage.

On the other hand, why didn't we contest the drop ball and then kicked it back to their keeper like everyone else does?!?!?!

also, McBreen could not score in a brother full of cheap prostitutes

Agreed. Thought we were pretty naive.

was f**king lol @ mcbreen missing that. He's so crap. When he trialed for the nix, I honestly thought he was a keeper, or a coach just playing in the game.

I was angry when it happened, but on reflection, although it was very poor sportsmanship from the Furry, WHAT THE HELL WERE WE UP TO?  It's not like as soon as the ball bounced he played it.  He stood over the ball for a few seconds, and we all milled about like nothing was happening.  I realise you don't press the guy with the ball, but that doesn't mean you stop marking everyone else! aitkenmike2009-10-18 12:07:06

I'll admit that we were probably in the wrong in the technicalities of the matter, but that is INCREDIBLY poor sportsmanship from the Fury IMO.

Don't make excuses for the c**t. He knew perfectly well he shouldn't just play it through.

What makes it worse too is when Daniel went down NQF were in full on attack mode and kept going, which doesn't bother me, but when the attack broke down the ball went back to their back line, you could actually here the Nix players yelling, demanding they kick the ball out. They didn't, went right back on attack until ref blew his whistle. Then Ufuker Talay disgraced football.

People can say all they like about us being naive, but by the look of it Brown talked to Talay and agreed that Talay would kick it back to us.

Why should they kick it out...? Blame the ref for not blowing the whistle. If we had won the ball we would be within our rights to kick it out,but NQ certainly didnt have to at all.

I dont think it would have mattered,Mc Breen wouldnt have scored if the game was still going now.He has to be the worst striker in the A league.

Tegal, they're not obliged to kick it out, obviously, but it's rather ungentlemanly. It reeks of poor sportsmanship.

I disagree. Teams started to feign injuries so the opposition would kick it out, thats unsportsmanlike. The referee has the ability to stop the game for injury, therefore you playing on isnt unsportsmanlike, its just poor form by the referee.

Yeah, I see your point there about feigning injuries. Still the original point of knocking the ball through to McBreen stands I feel.

Given who their coach is, nothing that mob do would surprise me.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Didn't something similar happen to Dave Beasant or am I going insane? Also why when trying to think of Dave Beasant's name do I always come up with Joe Corrigan? Even though I know they are not the same person/played at different times?

Pretty ordinary play.  If he was at any away venue he would have been heckled mercilessly.

Having said that, I do wonder, if a team is playing in the World Cup final, with a minute to play, and they're down either by 1 or level, would they not do the same?  Purely hypothetical, but the whole situation around the injury situation including making sure a player goes off for treatment is a bit... strange, old school strange.

It was a horrible shot from McBreen though, but imagine the uproar had it gone in?  I think the challenges would have become extra physical from there on in.

A fair amount of information is wrong on there, be warned you could get right back in the moment and start yelling at Talay again.

On Fox Sports they were saying "he's a very clever player doing what a clever player does".  WTF?  A clever player waits till the game is stopped and there's no competition to create something?  I suppose by way of verbatim it is true, I'd say its more ballsless to do it that way rather than creative.
