Now that is one player who annoys the hell out of me! Did anyone see the elbow he gave Greenie off the ball? Also too often went down like a sack of spuds and bought the ref.

bit of a prick. think it was him last year who took that controversial quick freekick when our players werent ready to release mcbreen which would have been a bullsh*t goal if hed got it.

I'd be disappointed if there is no match ban or some form of penalty for him, considering the FFA is into all that retrosective punishment jazz.

the dive too

Agreed - Talay should be given a ban of a least couple of matches for that - it's as bad if not worse than a dive.

given what siggy copped of a 'video evidence' last season Ufuk must get 2 matches

hopefully plus 1 or 2 for that dive

but he'll prob get 0-1 from the aussie panel - unless they are less biased than the ARL judiciary

Nothing for the dive - only punishable on review if it gets a player booked or results in a penalty. (Or free kick that leads to a goal?)

^^^That's a bit sh*t, just because he made nothing of the resulting free kick, he doesn't get suspended for a dive.

Talay also riled round on the ground after Lia got the ball and only the ball in the challenge that got him his 2nd yellow. Also simulation. Nothing he'd get suspended for though seeing as Lia went in studs up.

The Greenacre elbow was filthy and twice as bad as Siggy's seeing as he blindsided him. 2 week ban minimum.

I was watching Fox and you didn't actually see the elbow but Talay was looming up behind Greenacre and he seemed to be the only person within cooee of him. Is there some more clear-cut coverage that someone has seen?

Very clearcut.  There is slow motion footage of Ward on the ball and in the background the incident is clear as day.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Not really. Siggy's upper cut was from behind too.

IMO Talay should be suspended. 1 week for that.

1 week????? deserves more than that. In rugby he'd get what? 10 games even.

Not sure if you saw it on tv but Greenie looked well out of it while getting treatment.

He got sent off a couple of years back when playing for Sydney against Melbourne. Reason? Deliberate elbow in frustration shortly after Melbourne scored (link).

Not a good look.

I know, I know, its serious!

Tim looks like he'd tear the man to pieces if the ref wasn't there.

I had forgotten that it was Talay, now I hate the guy even more. How bad are the commentators at the end of that clip.

Still no word on a ban/punishment? When would we likely know?

Yes and no.

We should have been dropped the ball in an uncontested way so that we can hoof it in their general direction and play starts all over. That has been the convention (not sure if I like it, but that's another matter).

When it was dropped to Uf**k, we all stood around like startled chooks. The "something's not quite right here" look is evident on several faces, including Ufouk's at which point, I think instinct took over before any sense of decency/convention. I'm not sure that I wouldn't have done the same (if I could string a pass together).

I know, I know, its serious!

If this is the case this is outrageous and the part of the reason this league bleeds fans. The MRP is answerable to no-one and the standard of refereeing is inconsistent. Sick joke if it is true, in the light of the diving bans handed out, the bans to Siggie and Manny last season, the ban Lia is going to get for his two yellows...the standard of play is not that bad, but the officiating is much more inconsistent than the football.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) - consisting of Barry Such (Chair), Simon Micallef and Robert Wheatley - convened to consider the following incidents from Week 8:

The incident involving Ufuk Talay (North Queensland Fury) in or around the 13th minute of North Queenslands match against Wellington Phoenix Friday night. As the incident escaped the attention of referee, the MRP has the authority to consider the incident. The MRP found that Ufuk Talay had committed an offence, namely "Assault on a Player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball)" against Chris Greenacre and proposed a sanction of two (2) matches. This is the minimum sanction for such an offence. The player has until 12:00 noon (AEST) tomorrow to accept the proposed sanction or refer the matter to a hearing by the FFA Disciplinary Committee on the question of the length of sanction imposed.

Yeah that's kind of what I meant. Had we stepped forward to do that, they wouldve backed off and let us.

Can't really blame them for what they did, when we kind of invited it..

good!! some kind of justice!!

he's still owed a Seo-style reception on that last home game of the season and if Pasfield turns up it's "dodgy keeper" as soon as he is near the mouth of the tunnel

wonder which way they would play in the 1st half if they win the toss again thsi time??
