This weekends upcoming match is an exciting one even though we only have 13 availiable players (of which 3 are yet to be cleared by the FFA). We are facing the Central Coast Mariners who i dont think will set the A-League alight this year. They look more solid than spectacular but we are heavily depleted by injuries.
I think the team will look something like this

-----------------------------------------------Moss--------------------------------------

Old---------------------------------Cleberson-----O'Dor-----------------------------------Lochhead

Ferrante-----------------------------------Christie--------------------------------------Daniel

---------------------------------------------Campos--------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------George---------------Coveny-------------------------------------

How do you think we will go?

We'll lose..sorry to be pesimistic. Those 3 Brazillians will be jet lagged after only being in the country a day. I hope the team proves me wrong though!

The lesser teams  tend to do well in the pre-season,  so I expect CCM to do well.

We wont do well because:

A: Less preperation tme than any other  teams
B: Injuries
C: New arrivals only just in

Ricki should use the pre-season for gelling and fitness. I couldnt  gve a sh*t if we come last. Last season the Knights did  well -   look  how much of an indicator that was!

What about getting Andy Barron in there?

If it was a choice to start either Coveny, Smeltz or Brownlie - who would get the nod?

How does AB feel about being tied to the next 12 months in Aus though ?  Would it count as a transfer if he hasn't played in NZ in this 12 months (starting 9 days ago) or could he move back ?

Deffinetely outa Smeltz and Coveny. I dnno ay. I would say Smeltz. I think Coveny is too old to tell u the truth. But i dno he may suprise me, he was pretty good last year. Smeltz would be a better introduction player/ super sub and Coveny usually starts. So ye id flik a coin.

How does the eligability work for pre-season cup? I thought it was quite lax, and you could trial players by registering them

You can, the trouble would be that he's trialling for an Australian side in an Australian competition.  Wouldn't that mean he has to register as an Australian player ?

I'm just asking the question, be interested to know the official answer.

I was within 10 minutes of going as well, until someone looked at the budgets and realised another option was half the price of having me work in Sydney for a week...

Any news on when and how fast it will be in signing the two U20's.

We will need them to bolster the squad this Saturday.

If we build it, they will come...

1-0 CCM
the mariners have been playing a few solid games against NSW league teams, so they have had a fairly good preperation. you guys should trial a few local new zealenders, that you're not sure about, and see how they go. good luck.

I'm starting to think George will be used more RM than up front with the players we have signed, unless we're going 4-3-3

Normo's coming home

I like the first line up suggested. In terms of strikers, Coveny is good as a sub I think, he's still got pace but not for the whole game. Start Smeltz, then put Coveny on at about 60mins depending on how the game is going.
