So proud of the guys....

As a supporter all you want is to feel that the team are putting in 100%
They have put up with so much bad shiite this year yet they still dig deep and pull out a great result like that. Great way to start  the home matches, great for everyone who has been having football withdrawl symptoms, great for the new owners(though some are in Auckland for eggball)

2 reds plus more injuries....the football gods have not been shining on us.
A point from Perth would be fantastic. I guess it will be Griffiths into defensive mid for Brown and Smith  for Ifill and lyndsay for Ward......Ferked if I know who would be on the bench

Lets use the head not the heart. Ward was a 2nd yellow-stupid(and a bit unlucky) when you see how many players we had there to block out the danger. Brown- 1st yellow was very stupid and 2nd, he should have know better. We were wnning 2-0 with a couple of min to play. In was unnecessary and all he has done is let his team down.I see all the crowd applauded him as he crossed in front of him. They should have been booing him.

That is complete bollocks Leggy. Players do that in every single football match you see and yellow cards are almost never shown. You are trying to make Brown the villain of the piece to paper over an absurd interpretation of the rules.

It is not bollocks. I never said that Tim did not play well. He was the villain. Who got sent off? He knew he had a yellow. He has been around long enough. When there is not long to go, refs will book players for time wasting, as it is considered a form of cheating. And yes I am pissed off with him as he has let himself, his team and the FANS down.

By the way Brown was excellent today, and to imagine that anyone who even remotely considers themselves a Nix fan would boo him is warped thinking to say the least.

Just to clarify your point.

Very pleased with performance - a real team effort. I thought we looked very well organised, fit and motivated.

I thought everyone had good games but the absolute highlight for me was seeing more than a few glimpses of the Leo of old - confident and taking on players.

The down side, aside from Ifill's injury, was professional footballers giving away utterly, monumentally, absolutely f*cking dumb yellow cards e.g. steeping in front of a free kick or time wasting with a minute or two on the clock and your 2-0 up.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

You are the one that is f**ked.
Why would cheer someone that had just been sent off and has let the team down-for the next game as well.

You've probably hit the nail on the head Whitby. Dumb yellows. Lochhead? Dumb.

We've suffered from players being suspended for 5 yellows in the past and dumb cards don't help. I do feel for Brown because that was a harsh 2nd yellow but In Ward, he got a yellow last week, a yellow this week and a red that should have been a 2nd yellow this week. We do let ourselves down in terms of yellow card discipline.

Fair enough. But who the hell would suggest that fans should boo their own players? Might be common at Old Trafford but I would like to think Nix fans wouldn't be idiotic enough to entertain such an idea.

Because he scored the opening goal and played with his heart on his sleeve. You're talking about him as if he meant to get sent off a la Rooney all the time.

Lets be honest; we're not a well disciplined team at the best of times, we get far too many cards.

Actually, i felt a positive thing was the new fitness/conditioning coach during warmup. Much more structure in the drills, less messing around than last year; a positive sign perhaps.

or particularly accurate.

However I do make exceptions for dear Buffy and I'm thinking he is on the right track in this instance.

Great result especially considering we are missing the near irreplaceable Vince Lia. Next week may be a bridge too far but got to dig this 3 points.

Lindsay, Muscat holding mids?
Or smith in mid?

Oh I don't think Buffy is too far wrong but it is again an only an opinion and one most likely in the minority I would suspect.

I think Lee Taylor is one of the best signings we have made to be honest. I know its tough to put the mockers on signing Warner but he brings top level experience and knowledge. Lee Taylors rap sheet is f**king awesome especially in this part of the world. If he can tough it through the next two months and see what the new owners can do and bring in support in terms of a couple of coaches, I would hope he sticks around.

Brown did look better than last week and I would like to think that he may well have heard the feedback from the fans and decided 'f**k you, I'm better than you guys give me credit for'. I still think Timmy has to learn about discipline though and with a thin squad, we are looking at heading to Perth with a shoestring team (and Aaron Clapham is not the answer)

Wonderful game to kick off the home season.

A good crowd, a fired up Nix skinning the Jests down both wings and hard, uncompromising defence and midfield tussles.

Whole. Team. Absolute. Legends.

Great performance, it's good to be back! Just a shame that the ref had a couple of moments of madness.

I am pretty sure it was Brown who got a yellow for blocking the free kick. I remember being annoyed at him for being so daft when he had played so well up to that point.

And it was a ridiculous sending off. He wasted 3 seconds. In fact, he didn't waste any time at all. If he hadn't have picked the ball up, the throw in would have taken the same amount of time to happen anyway.

There were two cards for this offence. The one in the first half was nonsense anyway, as the Jets freekick taker moved the ball forward 10 feet and quickly kicked the ball into Lochie's legs, thus earning Lochie the card.

Yes.  The mark was 10 metres away so Lochhead wasn't infringing.., and then when the incompetent moron set it for the retake he had it in the right spot.

From Fred's live blog:

63 mins

Are those chants of "we want seven" I hear from the Yellow Fever? They've got a cheek, but it illustrates the home team's dominance.

great dominance, did Warner even have to make a save?

agree the ref did his best to spoil it ...

and I expect his agent will be claiming a fee from both the Jets and Perf

but a win and after 8 months to be back at my spiritual home!! all good!!

One of the most dominant Nix performances I've seen in a long time. I've seen us play more attractive football, but never have I seen a Nix match where the win seemed so obvious almost from the first few minutes in. Just a pity about the red cards...

So true. Just felt so good to be watching live (professional) footy again.

YF belting out the noise (but still very quiet elsewhere -lots of kids it must be said). Could get used to these OCtober starts to the season, but please, PLEASE no off-season as long as this ever again.

You missed it because it wasted almost no time. He picked up the ball to throw it in, took two steps and looked to throw, nothing on, so dropped it over his head for Manny the right back to take it, who was right there behind him.

and the ref who didn't even blow up for a foul for elbows to nose and neck for the players he sent off...yellow= red for half a second dropping the ball behind him...hope like f**k that gets appealed and we never see this ref again...

worse than your regular a-league refs...is it a rule as the quality of the games go up the quality of the reffing comes down??

When are the referees in the a-league going to be made accountable for their mistakes. The two red cards today were the worst i have seen for a long long time.Im still trying to work out wards red card  like i said the refs have to be more accountable

One of the best things was Leo seeming to get his mojo back.

For the first 30 minutes or so he was slow and tentitive but then something seemed to click and he started to finally run at players  (and beating them). Great to see.

Not sure how the w**ker in blue managed to find four yellows and two reds in that game. With that sort of production you would expect it to e a blood bath!, But on the other hand we  gave away some "dumb cards" which I am picking we will regret around round 10 or eleven. Manny's yellow was a case in point, having given the ref a gobful two minutes earlier the ref simply ' got his own back" after what was a fairly inocuous foul. Cards are inevitable, but if you aare going to collect one, at least make some bastard sore for your trouble!!!

Warner.... Did all that was required, which was not much!
Dura was again magnificent... how the hell he has not had an Aussie cap yet is beyond me!
Manny was Manny.. Superb
Siggy Very Solid looked good when he went forward a couple of times.
Lochy- Solid but gave the ball away too many times
Daniel.... Got better as game wehnt on after ratsh*t start
Brown... Better than last week, good goal, but two dumb cards
Ward... Tried hard, won some good ball in midfield
Leo,.. Best performance since the early stages of last season
Sanchez... tried hard, some good touches but did not create a lot
Greenie... Was Greenie, ran his nuts off , held the ball up well on ocassion

All in all a good start to the home season....Its Good to be back!
