We played well and lost, that I can cope with, but losing Manny for the Victory game really annoys me

And this.
Also, Did anyone else notice how frequently Ward gave the ball away or made a poor touch? Thought he had a rubbish game, Smith was our redeeming factor in midfield, sign him up for the year.
Muscat being out next week is so so sooo bad.
I don't think it was lack of discipline so much as being slow to settle, Perth were right on us and the early yellows cost us in the end. Although Andrezinho was pretty invisible for the rest of the game, it would have been better to have Muscat for Melbourne than not having Andrezinho this week.

That's harsh on Ward. He's just that sort of player who does cough up possession a bit too easily at times, but he was at the centre of a lot of our attacks and put in some great tackles in midfield.

As others have said that was a fantastic 2nd half from the whole team. Heaps of heart, passion and no little skill. Some of our one-touch stuff was superb. But no striker means no point unfortunately.

This

You had to really admire the way we played...especially in the second half. Perth are a very good team and we had them rattled for much of the game.

The lack of the killer edge up front cost us the chance of points.
We need to get Ifill back and fit and sign a decent striker. I'm afraid injuries and time have caught up with Super Leo. He is a shadow of the player of 3 or 4 years ago.

I had grave fears for this season...but the lads have shown in the first 3 games that they can be competetive home and away. strenghten the squad and we will be playoff bound at the end of the season if they keep this up.

The big difference for me in this game was no Brown or Lia. We fielded skilfull midfielders who can move and pass the ball and have some vision. Sanchez, Brown and Daniel were great....and even Ward contributed to the flow(even though he was a little erratic)

pleased to see we weren't utter trash like we have been during away games in previous seasons.

Random thoughts.
Thought Smith had a pretty good game.
Manny's red card was pretty inevitable.  the actual foul seemed pretty soft but I'd imagine it was a combination  of a number of other tackles that led to a second yellow.
Dura's sniper fall was outstanding.
Warner looks very suspect.  Dropped a corner and looked all at sea during a couple of goal mouth scrambles.
Commentators were horrendous.

Pantelis' broken arm a highlight from the commentary, and I was hoping they'd go for an Oxfam style sponsorship appeal when shots of Ricki came up with flies all over his face
You know we belong together...

Probably not going to say anything that others havent said but desperately need a striker( a decent one)  midfield were not bad at all. they didnt give up and actually took the game to perth. Alex smith looks as if he could do a job for us.  Warner not overly impressive im afraid

Was all over once Coyne got the headbandage advantage.
Manny's second yellow was a bit rich from ref Williams considering Coynes headclash with Sanchez in first half was far more brutal and yet earned no reprimand... AND (as News said), Burns studs up, flying challenge 20 seconds prior to Manny's second card got...sfa.  Inconsistent refs v Nix for me.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

I agree, but late in the first half Manny should have got a second yellow which the ref could have but did not give.Instead he got a good talking to. I would have thought that would have been a big warning.
Apart for the second yellow I thought that Manny was the standout player in the 2nd half.
