Will we have eleven fit players?

I tink Downey will have to start with Manny moving to Central midfield.

Something Like this

                 Pasty
Downey Siggy Dura Lochy
         Manny
Bertos  Sanchez    Daniel

          Greenie Smith

Warner
Herbert
Roberts
Taylor

Wasn't he on the bench yesterday? What is happening with Tsattialos?

I really want to discuss about our first 11 and 4 subs for this game...do we even have 15 fit players??

                 Warner

           Siggy       Dura
Lindsay                        Lochhead

                 Manny
Leo                                Daniel
          Sanchaz   Smith

                 Greeny

Sub: Paston Griffith Tisattalios + whoever is fit!!!

I really want Manny to be in the centre of the park for this game, traditional 4-5-1, pretty much in damage control, Perth always a tough place to be.

Let's recap, shall we??

Definitely out:
Lia (inj.)
Pavolova (inj.)
Ifill (inj.)
Downey (inj.)
Ward (min. 1 week suspension, possibly 2 depending on appeal)

Possibly out:
Paston (if still inj.)
Brown (might still play if red card appeal goes well)

Did I forget anyone. That makes up to 7 players out.

Have no idea what formation we will play.
A few things must be notes/asked

1) Can Tsattalios play at RB if Manny is pushed in MF?
2) Could Leo play RB (kinda like with AW's) so Daniel can play RM
3) Will Linsday be good enough to start? Will Ricky risk it?

I can't see Smith starting tbh. I can imagine one DM, three Offensive MF behind Greenie.

It'll be interesting to see what choices are made

If Pasty's fit, put him on the bench as striker with Tony Warner in goal.

I think Ward red more likely to have appeal success than Brown's.

Is there any clear description of Downey's injury state?

You reckon HN?

I think that Ward HAD to go as it was def. a fair 2nd yellow. What we could be appealing would be the 2-weeks ban (if I understand correctly that he is looking at 2 weeks minimum for a stright red card?).

Whereas Brown was booked for time wasting when in fact he had the ball for about 3 sec. hence the ref made a plain mistake and he should have not been given his marching orders.

Either way, I am pleased to read that the Club is going to try and overturn the suspensions.
Even if we had one between Brown and Ward available it would be massive for us.

...but he didn't get a second yellow.  He got a straight red.

Whether they can retrospectively downgrade that to a 2nd yellow is an interesting question, but there was no justification for a straight red there and if he was sent for a last man tackle the evidence is overwhelming that he wasn't.

The Brown one I agree with but over-turning a Yellow isn't seen very often.

There is no chance Tim Brown will be available next week, FFA rules arn't on our side with this one. Ward got a straight red for being the last player, which he was clearly not, and therefore an appeal for an 'Obvious Error' will be upheld. patrick4782011-10-17 10:46:29

Love your optimism!!! I for one am not so sure despite dubious nature of card

If I Remember rightly Ward was already on a yellow, therefore if they manage to get the red down graded to a Yellow he still would have recieved a Red.
Only difference is that he would only be out for one week instead of two.

Another on the injury list, Dura.....isn`t he having a baby?

You wouldn't have thought so with all the tackles he was making yesterday.

im sure ward wasnt on a yellow already, but everyone is going on that he was. I want video proof.

And are we sure downey is gonna be out for next week? Or is there a chance he could be ok?

RH has hinted at playing Lindsay in the midfield.

I'm sure when we signed Tsattilos Ricki said he could play right back.

This is gonna be one tough game.

That website also said that Ward received a red card against GCU, and the Griffiths is a teenage defender...

Someone said he got it at the same time as Brown? I didn't think he was on one either, but then sometimes it's hard to tell when you're at the game...

What is this vendetta against Ward by news sites? I didn't see Ward get the first yellow just like I didn't see him get a red last week.  Would be interested to hear from someone that watched it on the telly if it was properly reported/shown at 70 min.

Can't do that for the following reasons:

  • They'd have to hand out the Golden Boot in week 3

  • Chuck Norris would weep at the magnificence of such a player up front

  • Universe would explode

I watched it on TV and he definitely got an earlier yellow although for the life of me I can't remember what the incident was. Thats why when I saw him sent off I just assumed that it was for a second yellow, which would have been fair enough.

We can put out a solid starting side, even with everybody out who may be (red card appeals not successful, marginal injuries don't come right).  Actually much better than solid.  Bench looks a bit thin tho.  Only real question, is that RB/DM quandary.  I'd be inclined to go for as little disturbance as possible and go for Griffiths or Lindsay at RB.  Manny needed at DM.
IMHO everybody else has shown themselves up to A League standard for the role we'll need them playing, including Greenacre playing a genuine mid role IMHO.

Warner
Griffiths/Sigmund/Lindsay  Sigmund/Griffiths  Dura  Lochead
Muscat
Greenacre  Sanchez
Leo  Smith  Daniel

subs Imray, Tsats, Lindsay/Griffiths, Kaltack
presuming Kaltak can come into the squad as foreign-for-foreign injury replacement for Ifill

I liked the little bit we saw of Smith on Sunday, would be happy to see more

The Defence has been solid for the first two games, so conservative Riki won`t make any changes there. What I`m reading into Ricki`s comments he sees Lindsay as midfield player more so than a defender. A big call for the lad, but I think we were ever going to target 3 points in Perth, so I think it will be a good baptism for him. No pressure from the home fans and with the rugby on the game will go under the Radar.

Lindsay at DM is fine for me, but makes a lot more sense to play muscat in there next to him, then just bring in tsatalios or downey if fit at RB?

or sign up someone like Paul Reid to play central?

        Warner

             Dura   Lochhead

Bertos               Daniel

        Greenacre

Is all a given I think

RB - Muscat, Lindsay, Sigmund, Griffiths, Tsattalios
CB - Sigmund, Griffiths, Tsattalios
CM - Muscat, Lindsay, Smith, Ward, Brown

With suspensions standing, Ricki's quotes about Lindsay and Griffith's being clear bottom of the defensive pecking order, I'm expecting

        Warner

Muscar    Siggy    Dura     Lochhead

           Lindsay
Bertos                 Daniel
       Smith Sanchez

        Greenacre

IMRAY, GRIFFITHS, TSATALLIOS, ...

Also gonna but Paul Reid and Danny Allsopp out there as potential additions, if either/both of them are signed soon enough I'd expect Reid to start if he's fit enough and Allsopp to start, possibly dropping Greenacre to the bench, imagine this

              Warner

Muscat      Sigs    Dura     Lochhead

          Reid     Lindsay

Bertos       Sanchez        Daniel

           Allsopp

Imray, Tsatallios, Smith, Greenacre

Don't think the A-League transfer window is closed but he quite patently doesn't want to come here.

A fact we should remind him of if he does visit at any point.

I'd rather see the back 4 kept the same. The minute we start tinkering with it that's when c**k-ups happen due to miscommunication etc.

In saying that I completely agree that we are a better side with Manny in DM.

So I've gone around in a complete circle, did that add much to the conversation? Probably not.

If I recall correctly, we won our first ever game there, then had 4 losses on the trot, and won our latest one there (Brown scoring the winner in the first minute in that latest one from last season).
