Knitters = "Auckland City Knitting Circle" = those ACFC fans who oppose the Nix in particular and NZ teams playing in Australian competitions in general, on the basis that it takes valuable players, funding and media attention away from the ASBPrem in general and ACFC in particular. The people who do anti-Nix chants at ACFC games and come on here to tell us how much our "Aussie" team sucks.

"Knitting circle" comes, I think, from the image of a bunch of bitter old crones gossiping.

Hey BM.  Dolores was asked for a definition.  She didn't say she necessarily supports that view.

It should be noted.  While all City fans are not necessarily Knitters.  All Knitters do seem to be city fans.

Similar to Allardyce's reserves Hammers line-up v Forest last weekend in the FA Cup - and they got pummeled 5-0 so guess a1-0 loss is no disgrace....
Alan Pearce people have been commenting on is a decent striker - but is pretty slow which has limited his opportunities when he was a pro in the UK etc.

I remember watching him in that NZFC All Stars v the AWs 'A' team before the WC and he looked fairly good and quite sharp there...and he's often done impressive things in the past for Waitak...another one to go in the nearly men box with Clapham

He was a pro but didn't impress enough in the UK to make it, lack of speed for one thing, motivation/off field problems?  Maybe he didn't like it here either.

About 5 people in total. Barely enough to form a circle without stabbing themselves with their own needles.
